It might be your settings are not sticking, what they say and what you get can be two dirrent things, next time pause and set setting to Ultra, save then look again, if you on ultra set to low, save, set to ultra save, go look.

Could be, I will try but I just exited back to the menu accidentally. That not-useful resume button instead of just hitting escape, I have to get used to doing that.

If I am not mistaken when you change a resolution setting doesn't it say that it won't go into effect until you exit and restart the game?

If you setting are not sticking if you exit back you can change there but dont quit flight as they you can lose setting.

well since we seem to be publishing screenshots,  heres a few of mine...

This is from today..  SU5

As is this..

This  one is from SU4

XbrE1nw.jpg

I'm not going to say what is right or wrong,  just this is what I am seeing today as opposed to last week.  For me, these are all quite acceptable, but that's me 🙂

All these are on a G27 curved monitor using SDR.

Bob there is a very simple test to see if your setting are sticking.

Goto EGNX runway 27

This is "set to Ultra" but its not, look at the building.

new.png

The building with real ultra look like this ( this is taken pre SU5 but foret about LOD and the colour of runway just look at buildings)

old.png

What your setting say and what you get ATM can be to totaly diffrent things.

Do the test quit flight, restart flight and see if your one of the people setting stick or one of people they dont.

please note I have never used read only on config file.

Well I started a new flight at KROA (Roanoke), and IMHO that used to be one of the highest-res looking areas. When I was in low, it looked like a Nintendo game almost. So I am sure I was not in low when going back to Ultra, but I am not sure that Ultra is really Ultra even when forcing it. The settings to me look just short of medium like a Lowish-Medium, even when in Ultra.

I'm going to reinstall my driver, but I personally think it's a long shot. Keep in mind 120" screen here, but my seating distance is going to be much farther back than all of you, but because of the way our eyes work, the larger screen is still much easier to see details.

No Bob as I mentioned you must be in a flight, then hit Esc and go to Options, and change render quality to low, apply this setting, then to ultra and apply, then resume.

IT looks like I remember Ultra somewhat when 100 feet or lower to the ground, once I gain any elevation, it no longer looks like Ultra, even at 500 feet. It's not bad at 500 feet, but it's not the same as it used to be. At around 5k or so it really starts to degrade quite rapidly.

10k feet near Juan-les-Pins France I think, just took this screenshot. Its a blurry mess compared to before TBH, but not all my flights look this bad. I don't know whats up, bandwidth degradation or settings issue maybe... This definitely doesn't compare to what I had in the past, it's so far off that I literally almost cringe when I see it.

Again my eyes might not be as sharp but here i took 2 from my seat . Is it the same ?

I take it no one has found a way to make these setting stick yet Noel?

Somewhat anecdotal I suppose, but to me Medium now looks like Low used to look, Ultra look like Medium (at best), even when I know (well we think) that I am really in Ultra.

Just do the test above to see 🙂

I've noticed that there is some dynamic FPS optimisation going on during a flight. I presume in order to maintain 30 FPS.
