The dev team has acknowledged the issues...

I will say though, I'm glad they're going to address the LOD pops, because it's really breaking the immersion factor for people with VR and TrackIR.

Where did they say they would address them for VR and track IR users? You can’t use track IR or VR on Xbox, so it’s probably not a priority, and VR users have been largely (mostly) ignored since it was released for VR.

And there were people bashing the dev team saying that once XBOX was released, they'd forget about us. It's just so silly. Asobo and Microsoft have been incredibly engaging compared to other dev teams. We should be so lucky that we have a great new sim that has tons and tons of promise.

I don't see VR getting any attention in particular for a long time.

That looks awful! Exactly what I'm experiencing as well on my end. It's like everywhere I fly in the world is filled with smog.

I seriously don’t know why you think that. It looks just like a hazy dusk would look. Generally, I do see haze where it should be. I have high visibility where I should.

Obviously there’s some extreme subjectivity at work.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. Which is a shame, because flight sim limbo is horrible. Just can’t go back to 2D. Even with the best monitor around.

A SU3 screenshot, several months ago....No LoD editing, High/Ultra, 1920x1080. Sometimes is good to remember where we come from.

...and a SU2 one, that´s me enjoying the Discovery Tour... THAT was a haze I loved. Autogen buildings had distinctive features an colorization.

The problem, like I've mentioned is not the haze itself. But this overall affect, I am seeing everywhere. Which shouldn't be the case. I shouldn't be seeing haze on a dry, clear winter day.

If you're of those where the settings are not "sticking" and you have to use the LOW+SAVE then ULTRA+SAVE trick, can you check your UserCfg.opt file for the following:

{Graphics
	Version 1.1.0
	Preset Custom

Change whatever Preset value you have to Custom, then start the game and see whether you still have to use the trick.

You have

{Texture
        MaxAnisotropy 16
        Quality 1
    }

But if I choose ULTRA it switches to

{Texture
        MaxAnisotropy 16
        Quality 0
    }

For what stands the Quality= ? If we  choose LOW we get

{Texture
        MaxAnisotropy 1
        Quality 3
    }

How can ANYONE say that there is no degradation after seeing those shots is beyond me.

Maybe because they are actually experiencing no degradation? Remember, there is always two sides to a story. Don't believe me? Here are two AVSIM polls about the Sim Update 5:

A.png

B.png

You can see that on both polls, approximately 70% of people, in other words, majority of people are NOT experiencing visual degradations. I am one of them, in fact, I experienced a significant visual improvement with Sim Update 5:

Again, I am not saying there is no degradation, but you should accept that it is not something everyone is experiencing. This is why it is not a good idea to dismiss people who have a good experience with Sim Update 5 as "shills" like some people here do. Just like how people who are experiencing issues with Sim Update 5 have rights to mention their issues, people who are not experiencing issues have rights to mention that they are not having issues.

Only visual difference I notice is the lighting, which has a major influence on clouds too, but I believe this is simply caused by a different HDR tonemapper, not an intentional visual degradation to improve performance. Changing HDR tonemapper wouldn't even have any effect on performance. Also now there is a lot more pop-in when the camera is panned, but at least in return I'm getting a lot less pop-in when looking straight ahead.

With that being said, while I had a visual improvement, rest of Sim Update 5 is a buggy mess for me - lots of CTDs, broken live weather, altitude bug, controls not moving while the camera is being panned, ESC key not unpausing the simulator, broken multiplayer & AI traffic, missing light shafts / volumetric lighting and more.

Ohhh well, anyways, the next big target for Asobo is the Top Gun release. That should keep the hardcore Xbox user base happy.

Um, the more people flies and experiments with the sim, the more evident it will be. I get it, the Frames factor is a big dopamine kick but...well, I even voted "fine and after some tweaks", silly me. when I should have voted "Obvious Downgrade and waiting for Asobo to say something", but well, the Poll was released only after 2 days of SU5 and a huge negativity surrounding the sim. But, whatever, I posted my previous SU pics and my SU5 pics several times in this thread, the resuts are there to see, which  I find insultingly obvious. But each to his own.

P.S: I am starting to feel like I am crazy, dellusional  or something...XD

I am also under the impression that it always looks too hazy, even with the lowest aerosole setting.

Can anyone of us provide a save flight, so that we can make a screenshot from the actual same situation?
Though we do have to be careful with external zoom level. It would be best to just switch to external cam and don't change the default zoom because image contrast can change drastically with zoom level. Everything looks usually more punchy with this fisheye lense look zoomed out. On the other hand, it will always look very pale very fast, as soon as you zoom in.

The quality value is actually reversed. I searched for that some time ago in the MSFS forum. 0 = ultra

The last poll was opened yesterday, and it still had the similar approximately 70% to 30% ratio the previous poll had.

I am 100% sure that I have better graphics since Sim Update 5 - I am quite nitpicky when it comes to visuals and I have always disliked the blurries and pop-ins MSFS had since the release, you can see my previous posts. I have a theory on why some are experiencing worse graphics and others are experiencing bether graphics, though: My PC can be considered mid-end and maybe it was simply struggling to render as much scenery objects as it normally could in Sim Update 4 and before, while with Sim Update 5 it can render a lot more thanks to the performance improvements, effectively hiding the degradation for mid and lower end PCs, which is also what majority uses.
