How do you guys locate the msfs exe for the ms store version when you can't even access the folder?

In that folder D:WindowsApps, right click, properties, security tab, advanced options, add your admin account of your PC to the permissions.

You have to know the secret handshake.

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

type on search: flightsimulator.exe , then click to  open file location. That works with out change any permission etc

I tried Game Mode on/off, HAGS on/off (don't forget to reboot) and installed the new driver. There was no noticeable difference between all of them, neither w.r.t. fps nor fluidity, on my system.

This is insofer different from previous results where HAGS incurred quite an fps hit plus stuttering formerly.

I'll stay with the new driver but leave HAGS and Game Mode off for now.

Kind regards, Michael

Before this new Windows update, all MSFS tune up lists I have seen said emphatically to turn Game Mode OFF.

I have a standard MSFS MS store install and found two locations with flightsimulator.exe:

C:\...\...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe

C:\...\...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps

and both show a file size of zero for flightsimulator.exe  ??

Could that be because the exe file is encrypted? And the system will not let me add either location to the 'high performance list'.

Same here, I flew a test flight using the previous Win 10 from June with game mode OFF.

Then downloaded the new 21H1 and flew with game mode ON and game mode OFF.

If anything the old version of windows was 1 or 2 fps faster. New Windows and turning game mode ON or OFF did nothing for FPS. Didn't hurt though.

But I was reminded how easy and nice the Spitfire Warbird from Flying Iron flies!

Do you have MSFS installed on a different drive than C?

If so, the C drive will only have pointers, not the actual files.

Hi Bert,

No, I don't have any other drives than C.

I also see two instances of this file, both 0 bytes..  MS magic, I guess.

And the Game Mode settings say: "System cannot access the file" when attempting to set to high performance..  Dead end.  🙂

I did set the MSFS Nvidia Profile Power Management Mode setting to Prefer Maximum Performance, but don't know how that relates to the Win10 setting.

Are we talking about the Graphics Performance Preference in the Graphics Settings Page? I had the option to select Microsoft Store App and then select Microsoft Flight Simulator. No problem. I have MSFS installed to a E:\ drive SSD but I didn't have to search for it, just select the Store App.  BTW, I selected Desktop App to add P3D. No issues.
