Aerosoft CRJ new version is out

Hmmm not able to update via Contrail or the ASUpdater.

AS updater shows Red with update option greyed out and via Contrail, of which I purchased the CRJ, it shows v1.4 with no update option enabled...

What do I need to do?

The latest version is too large for the updater. You need to download the full installer.

Word of advice, Aerosoft does not have Millenial-Friendly customer service, so if you're in that under-40 age category keep that in mind.  Aerosoft are also mostly German.  I can say this because I'm pretty much 99% German myself -- most Germans are direct, no-nonsense, and as we say in my family you can tell a German something but you can't tell them much.  Heh.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the CRJ.  I am still one of those on the sidelines.  I own their CRJ for P3D and knowing that, their MSFS version will be very good in about 2 years.  It just got a lot of bad press for the first couple of years of its development, but it turned out to be quite good.

Yes AS are literally word not allowedting on their customers. Don’t ever go to their forums. It’s a customer service nightmare. Mr Kok thinks he is god and can’t be wrong, ignores customers wishes and the other devs lurking around are telling you you are hallucinating when presenting them facts how wrong they are.

despite all that the crj is a good project and the best addon AC to date

For now, just go into your shop account and download the new installer.

For the future, read the changelog carefully before taking to an internet forum to ask questions that are answered in the changelog. 😉

In a world where people install hundreds of addons from obscure sources and then start raging at random payware publishers or at Asobo because something is not working as expected anymore, I can see where they're coming from with their attitude.

I don't disagree though that AS is taking this too far.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

You are right.
Also most rage Posts here at Avsim can be backtracked to i*iots installing crazy stuff or not having their overclock under control or editing some config files.

Then they go to a forum and scream.

To me it has been quite the different experience. And I got quite some of their products going back to FSX, the Cat and the Twotter for P3D. Every contact with them has been quite normal and the products got updates very late into their life cycle and are quite polished. I always wonder if the three to five people harping on here and on the official MSFS forum about how awful Aerosoft is, are the same. And if they are representative.

To me it is just a normal company with some nice and some outstanding addons.

This is the only aviation related forum I'm active on. I do lurk on the PMDG, FSlabs, and Aerosoft forums though. They're all very... unwelcoming to new gamers, especially those who have poor english or ask a question that have been answered more than once. God help you if you mention a competitor.

They all make amazing products, though, so I still buy from each, I just don't post on their forums.

For comparison, most communities view our AVSIM forum as a hostile and toxic community full of old men who complain about undulated runways and tree sizes.

I'm not sure they're wrong. 😂

Poor spelling.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Just had a peruse of their forums.

I assume the attitude they often have on display is some sort of performance art? Maybe reverse psychology to entice me into their fold?

It's... not really working on me.

Well I just tried a flight and although the VNAV worked great, the ILS still does not work. The AP will not follow the glide slope at all. And the glide slope itself was completely wrong, if I hand-flew it to the flight director I would end up in the ground > 2 miles short.

I flew KAFW - KTOL and the ILS07 approach worked perfectly.

I have seen MANY approaches where the ILS is WAY off and I've also seen MANY VASI and PAPI where the guided landing zone is way off. I don't think this is a CRJ problem, I believe it's a scenery problem.

How did the LNAV work? Was it swinging side to side ?
