Mooney

Featured Replies

When I first installed SU5, my Carenado Mooney would have the speed brakes deployed by default. I was so confused because the airplane was flying like a dog, and then I noticed the speed brakes. For some reason the default is now back to normal.

Love the Mooney.   Have felt no desire to buy the Just Flight aircraft as long as the Mooney is working.  Hoping Carenado prove the critics wrong and they keep this one up to date.  The Seminole is nice too, but Mooney just a great steam gauge environment and forces you to work the numbers for a smooth landing.

The speed brake still works. It's the annunciator panel light that is broken. If you had the speed brake mapped to a controller key, that is also INOP. I had to assign two different keys to the speed brake in order to deploy and retract with my fingers.

It's still as nimble and a joy to fly. Best thing is that so far no CTDs when using the mouse and interacting with the VC.

For GA, I have been flying the Seminole lately. It has developed several bugs since SU5, Nav 2 radio can''t be adjusted, can't do a mag check because switches don't work properly and every once in awhile the autopilot starts horizontal dutch roll type of tracking which can be stopped sometimes by switching off AP and then re-engaging. Hoping these issues will be fixed someday, but not holding my breath till it happens.

Reassigned controls of spoilers to two commands ie retract and extend

Used two new letters on the keyboard

Now everything works including the static items

Very strange

So the fuel tank selector works for you?

@Carenado or @Bert Pieke - any further information on the updates for the Carenado aircraft post SU5 or are we going to wait past WU6?

Or SU 7 or maybe SU8  🤓

I have been told that updates are in the queue, waiting to be published by MS. 🙂

I have both and still fly both, but I do find I fly the Turbo Arrow III more these days.

It is hard to pin down exactly why.  I think the Mooney if anything is too perfect, too sweet, too forgiving. The Mooney is definitely a great "first complex aircraft" for someone new to simming and the price is excellent.

The Turbo III is twice the price, slower and more work and definitely harder to get in the groove to land needing power all the way to the threshold when dirty whereas the Moony you just deploy those spoilers and swoop in, but the Turbo III just seems to have more "character" what my French speaking friends would call "je ne sais pas" I suppose.

A monumental shortcoming of MFSFMP- until they fix the delay it's not viable for me. Fingers x'ed!

If simmers got a collective nickel for every time we heard that from carenado, we'd all be independently wealthy.

Sad but true State of affairs. Only being updated through the marketplace was a horrible decision, until they can make the update frequency on par with a third party update site.

It is entirely to do with the MS update process.

The updates have to be finalised then submitted to MS for approval.  Microsoft then check for any issues that do not meet their marketplace requirements. These requirements in some cases may have changed since the original product was released. If they have issues it is sent back to the developer and delayed further. If it does meet approval it must then wait anything from 1 to 7 days for the next weekly update before being available to users. Even then it is not automatically updated the user needs to go onto the content manager and manually download it.

Of course where there are issues or delays the main forums get quite abusive to the developer whereas in reality the root cause of the delays is usually the convoluted and slow MS update process.
