For good reasons, 453 of them being bad experiences, seasoned flight simmers are trying to keep their expensive rigs bought exclusively for flightsim(s) mean and clean.  Forcing everyone to a completely unrelated app that wasn't necessary before and that doesn't add anything to the FS experience, but installs yet another autostart process and service that doesn't add anything to the experience either just doesn't jive well with those people, no matter if this actually makes a difference or not.

But these people are very obviously not the target audience of MS/Asobo, no matter how often they claim the opposite.

Using an app called "xbox" to load the sim by itself says absolutely nothing about the target audience of the sim.  I fail to see the difference between adding a process to load an update (esp considering they clearly say its a workaround) and adding the PMDG app, for example.  The ONLY difference is its name.

If it becomes INTENTIONALLY necessary to load because MS changes how their update process works, then they are just changing how update process works.  It has NOTHING to do with the "target audience"

Lol, I don’t think the X-Box app was supposed to be a requirement to run MSFS for WU6. From my understanding, people who purchased MSFS through Steam didn’t have to install the X-Box app for WU6.

Rather, it’s a bug with Microsoft Store in conjunction with MSFS that causes the Microsoft Store to not show the update for MSFS unless the X-Box app is installed.

Somehow, this bug escaped the testing from Asobo/Microsoft.

Just curious, but is the control tower at EDDS missing?

And I bet you didn't take one minute to compare them. It was pretty obvious to me that the Justsim Version is better. One can see that by comparing the small yellowish building at the terminal that has the clock and the signage "Stuttgart" on it.

Interesting night lights bug, surprising that it was not caught by QA, or that it could not be solved before release day

Have you read this thread? It's been mentioned about a dozen times here alone!😁

MS Store, search for "XBox App" (not XBox Game Bar or anything else named XBox). Install and run, and check for updates in MS Store whilst it's still running. You may even already have the app, but if not, follow those instructions. It is not for XBox only, put for PC games too.

Why would I do that lol?  Sim says to update via Microsoft Store.

Because many people cannot get the update to start. Do what you quoted and it starts.

Testing??? Your joking , right?

This new Xbox app is like bloatware. Go to settings and turn off auto load, run in background, and all that other garbage after you install it.

I'm making a point - their update procedures are ridiculous.  The entire MS gaming ecosystem is horrid.  ARGH.  Steam, on the contrary, handles these things beautifully.
