October 22, 20214 yr I have not looked at SU6 myself yet but I thought this was a great compare Vid. For me the big one is at 3:33 LOD 400 looks great and the 3:33 compare really shows how much better 400 looks over 200. What are you guys useing ? 200? 300? 350? or 400? The first bit of the vid is night lighting thats huge with 400 also. Edited October 22, 20214 yr by Nyxx David Murden. October 22, 20214 yr I've been using 400 for a while now... This video shows the difference in a very effective way: 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

October 22, 20214 yr I am using the max 400 on the slider, and also 400 for objects (in the usercfg obviously.) Much better, as shown by the two videos above. No noticeable performance hit on my PC. On one of the other settings for textures, does anyone know if they fixed the issue with one of the settings being the wrong way around. I think ultra gave a low setting etc. Nyxx actually report it and demonstrated it I think. Edited October 22, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). In the SU6 patch notes, again not looked but it said, UK airports and other areas not showing ultra when Ultra was selected has been fixed! Edited October 22, 20214 yr by Nyxx David Murden. October 22, 20214 yr biggest benefit with LOD 400 seems to be with night lighting, the FPS hit for me though seems high when I tried briefly the other day - I'll have to do more testing, but a 20 or so fps hit isn't worth it - LOD 200 looks great imo. There's a long thread on the official forums about this, LOD 300 has been quoted several times as being the sweet spot. Also I'm seeing quotes saying the new SU6 LOD200 is higher than old 200 Edited October 22, 20214 yr by hanhamreds New PC Ryzen 9850X3D - 32gb ddr5 6000Mhz - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk wifi - Gigabyte wind force gaming OC 5090 - 2TB Sabrent NVMe. The details at 300 vs 400 are pretty miniscule unless you are really looking for them and 300 seems to hold performance as well. All LOD 300. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 22, 20214 yr Hi, I use LOD 300. I tried with 400, but I had a significant drop of FPS. Regards.
October 22, 20214 yr 300 here. I find it the best balance between graphics and performance on my rig AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display
October 22, 20214 yr Totally forgot about this "new" setting. October 22, 20214 yr With 2K and a 1080ti I can use LOD 400 with airliners (FBW, CRJ) only in small-medium airports. At KJFK for example my FPS goes back to pre-SU5 times with LOD 400! 😄 (By the way: When I saw that 18 FPS at KJFK I once again came to appreciate what SU5 did performance-wise... before SU5 I had 18 FPS at KFJK all day long even with LOD at 100). So I will use 400 when in cruise (really makes a difference when you look out of the cockpit), and 200 in rather heavy situations, maybe even 100 at e.g. KJFK during approach over Manhattan. My FPS are locked at 30, so I do not need 60 or whatever. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
October 22, 20214 yr I don't know if LOD affects the runway textures but at 400 (I'm okay with it in the boonies) it really makes the runways look great....like real runways from a distance sharprunway by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 22, 20214 yr I've decided on LOD 300 with my 2070 super and 5900x. LOD 400 seems to crush performance, especially on the ground and around larger airports. 300 is a nice middle ground. Looks great, and performance is good.
October 22, 20214 yr I want it all .. Resolution 3440x1440 @ 110 Render scale LOD 400 + Stock Ultra Using the FBW A320 with rows and rows of A320 Liveries parked at the Stands JFK was giving me a solid 30.. In the air it was jumping back up to my hard lock of 50fps I can live with that. Granted all those textures had the VRAM going as high as 14 Gigs but that's why i chose what i chose. Now im starting to wonder if SAM may be useful in this scenario.. Will test it when i get home.
