Looks like it was a joke that just went over my head - no harm done

sorry Matchstick, my quoting was irritating, not addressed to you but referring to sd_flyer: SU7 - closed BETA testing was cancelled, period.

Hmmm, less than 25% of the American restaurants he visited remain open, and just less than a 3rd of the British ones, so maybe someone else?😄

Way off topic but where did you get those stats?

And, you know, the little fact that he knows nothing about games development or managing such a project, unlike the existing management at Asobo who (I'm sure are not perfect, like every manager I've ever known, and I include myself, but) have guided it to the point where it is now, which is still a revolutionary piece of software that is useable and heading in the right direction.

Now, unrealistic release schedules and pressure from the publisher... That's a whole different matter, and negatively affects many game development projects that I've known of from insider knowledge.

"DX12 early access" is most likely the drive to not have Beta testing in SU7 ... has the potential to break DLC content and generate considerable instability and redundant feedback ... I wonder if they're going to update WASM in SU7 to support DX12?  The rest of the update is just more airports and aircraft and nothing mentioned about adding SDK features.

The benefit of having "early access" feature (aka Beta feature) is that you can disable it.  Shifting to DX12 is not trivial, but I hope it brings about better image quality by leveraging the capabilities of high end GPU's (i.e. lots of VRAM, ray tracing, etc.) ... right now (on Ultra) there isn't a huge difference between my 3090 and my 1080Ti (but there certainly is with other games/sims I use).

Cheers, Rob.

For once. I do agree with you. I can't believe that day has finally happen. DX12 is a toggle and entirely optional. It's most likely the piece that will break most mods. There is other update that might break mods but dev can deploy new version. I think risk wise DX12 on SU7 is the biggest piece but since it's optional, they decided it's probably better to have a higher amount of different pc configuration.

No problem for me if MS/Asobo postpone the SU7 release. Just want this sim to be more stable

There are many sources online. @HiFlyer has mentioned just one, but the most recent one I read was How many restaurants are still open from Kitchen Nightmares? – MVOrganizing

Think you’re totally right Rob, but think the QA team is also fully heads down on the Reno release which is coming out in parallel (and there must be a mountain of work between those two builds)…

Unfortunately, they probably won't.  SU7 is tied with the Game of the Year release.  They spent some marketing and advertising money on November 18th already being the release date for Game of the Year.

Just like the X-Box release, it appears November 18th is an immovable date.
