Travolta lives just up the road from me near Ocala, Florida. Quite a guy. He can walk around town and he's treated just like one of the "plain folks". No autograph seekers and no swooning women to bother him. I'd love to see his house for real.....

You left out ill-fated John Denver....  Who took off in a newly acquired aircraft without familiarizing himself with it.  Suffered fuel starvation because he likely did not know the location of the selector.

Also NASCAR racings team owner Jack Roush, who drew a standing ovation at Oshkosh in 2010 for his survival of his crash landing in his Hawker 390 in front of thousands of other aviation enthusiasts!

Also left out Thurman Munson.

Former Olympian who used to be on the Wheaties boxes. Kind of faded away for a long time after that then gained some attention when he married Kris Kardashian.

His name is no longer Bruce , but Kaitlyn ; she ran recently as a Republican in the unsuccessful bid to recall the Governor of California - Gavin Newsom .

That was a "probable" cause found by the NTSB. Eye-witness accounts indicate that that may not have been the case:

I've flown that take-off many times in RL and know well exactly where his 'plane went down. While I have no idea what the glide ratio of his aircraft was at the time of the crash, it just doesn't seem probable that "fuel starvation" was the ultimate cause. Rutan doesn't build aircraft that suddenly plummet into the ground/sea if they run out of fuel.

If anyone wants to fly his final route just go to KMRY 25R and after takeoff make a slight turn left and fly toward the furthest point of land before getting to the open ocean.

One other interesting factoid: At the time of the crash Denver's pilot's license was suspended due to a couple of drunk-driving convictions.

Cliff Robertson was was an avid aviator who also played a role as an alcoholic airline captain in "The Pilot", also actor George Kennedy who played the cigar chomping mechanic in the original "Airport" film.

Didn't know Brad was a pilot. Spitfire I see, iconic bird. But lets have a bit more love for the Hurricane, the true hero, especially The Battle of Britain. It was the Hurricane that did most of the work. And there are still 17 in flying condition.
