They definitely need to focus on testing. I don't think a bunch of planes, imagery updates and game-modes is the reason for any instability or major features breaking, clearly all the underlying code stuff being touched on is the cause but it sounds like testing on SU7 was cut well short, for no other reason than getting the "game of the year" update out the door before the holiday period. But it sounds like they were ready to slow it down, knock out some current problems first and get it tested properly before they ship it in the future -- One can hope.

Seriously. It’s a giant bug. And for Asobo to apparently know of the issue and not fix it is pretty upsetting. Every person I know uses TrackIR as it’s one of the most immersive ways to use this software. I’m hoping it’s one of the things to be addressed in a hotfix, because MSFS is unusable without it.

And the email I got from Zendesk this morning basically said, " Yes we know the update broke it, and there is no date when it will be fixed.  Have a nice day"....( Paraphrasing of course. )

So now we wait for maybe SU8 or SU9 for it to be put put back to where it was .

Didn't they just tell us a week or two ago that they stopped beta testing on this update for some reason?

They did indeed. I suspect they had a hard date set internally to get it out the door, so they just cut testing short and crunched to get it out the door.

Has anyone lost performance and have a lot of stutters with su7?

No. I fly locked at 30 FPS and there is no change from SU6, and no stutters to speak of.

No loss of performance here either, also locked at 30fps.

In fairness i noticed a slight performance degrade, this is from the day before had it running great on ULTRA 30fps capped.

Just felt odd, few stutters here and there and colours seemed strange in the environment.

But then after closing down and coming back few hours later it was about as it was before...very odd.

Without frame cap vsync i can get 60-70 fps on the bora bora discovery flight which is my test bed so the frames are there.

I did knock back a few ULTRAS to HIGH though.

I think maybe playing straight into the update rather than rebooting may be cause of some performance issues?

In my camera settings the trackir tab is off, I can't slide it to turn on. My trackir software is on and got all the lights displaying. Anyone see this ?

Make  sure the red light is not on , on the Track IR meaning you have it in pause.

Aren't you all glad Asobo don't make software for real aircraft, Imagine boarding and seeing a sticker on the captain's window saying "Software By Asobo"

I'd be like "Word not allowed This I'm Outta Here" lol

Seriously such a shame that this update seems to have caused so many issues. I guess I am lucky because apart from all the piloting assistance options being turned on and the HUD showing in the cockpit & external view I haven't seen too many issues. I did take a screenshot of all my graphic settings pre update and they all remained the same and performance seems the same as SU6 (4K locked @ 30FPS)

I updated the A32NX because of the Simbrief flight plan issue (word not allowed those guys are fast finding and fixing bugs!) and currently I am enroute from Glasgow to Geneva. The only other thing I have seen is some of the instrument lighting in the developer version of the A32NX isn't working but I am sure they will address any issues quickly.

Hope that all of you that are suffering find resolutions soon.

I am bit frustrated as they promised they would do longer beta period. Whenever they did that, the release was so much better. Only 1 week was given to beta tester this time. So guess what ? So many broken things. Now that SU8 won't be before 2022. I am hoping Asobo will resume a longer beta period so that we can actually make the product better before release....end of rant

Is the TrackIR thing specifically for TrackIR only?  I use Opentrack for LED head tracking and I flully expected to see this bug tonight, but despite the fact that I pause and unpause tracking often, I saw no problem at all.  So Opentrack vs the TrackIR software might be another workaround, if anyone is interested.  Strange though, I would have expected the sim to treat them exactly the same.

Workaround for now until Asobo fixes what they broke is to go into controls and set a key for " Toggle Head Tracking" Then when Track IR shuts off, you can turn it back on without having to go into the camera menu. The way it is now is if the Track IR loses signal, because you turn your head to far, walk away from PC , or hit F9 to make the image freeze, MSFS shuts Track IR down.

Same here, although my settings are modest.

I was wrong regarding the DC-6. Well, kind of, I suppose. I noticed what happened:

For some odd reason, the VFE in the DC-6 decided it was a prudent move to NOT advance the prop lever. I guess that leaves them in a fully feathered state and gunning the throttle then would kind of ruin your day I guess. Upon noticing this I advanced said lever myself. Lo and behold the old bird started behaving like I was used to. I've had a couple of flights with her now and my take away thus far is:

1. MAN this sim is gorgeous beyond belief. Ridiculously so (just for ha-ha's I fired up the other two at the same locations (northern coast of Africa) and found myself just laughing at the difference between them - MSFS is literally generations ahead).

2. Performance is about the same. Maaaybee slightly less than before. Maybe. Not sure about this at all. Might be nocebo.

3. Weather depiction is breathtakingly good.

4. Is it just me, or are the menus snappier?

Caveat: I have only flown the dc-6 thus far.

I got the message "you are missing packages that are essential to run microsoft flight simulator" after the update, after already running the simulator 3 times, verified the integrity of the files via steam and now...spacer.png

110gb of updates lol omg im missing x-plane so much

As you've just discovered

NEVER EVER VERIFY FILE INTEGRITY FOR STEAM MSFS VERSION. IT WILL CAUSE A COMPLETE REINSTALL EVERY TIME!

Quote

Never do that with MSFS on Steam if you downloaded the files to the default directory. If you install them to custom directory I believe it's fine.

Since Steam isn't the one that downloaded the files, it sees them as foreign to the directory and removes them during verification.

Nope, verify file integrity still breaks it and next start you'll be presented with a complete reinstall. So let me repeat:

NEVER EVER VERIFY FILE INTEGRITY FOR STEAM MSFS VERSION. IT WILL CAUSE A COMPLETE REINSTALL EVERY TIME!

My point was people overreacting saying the sim is unplayable at this point without TrackIR...

It's not that the game is unplayable, it's that playing without TrackIR makes us not want to play it.
