Prepar3D v5.3 released

For 4790K (4 cores, HT On):

[JobScheduler]
AffinityMask=255
P3DCoreAffinityMask=255
MainThreadScheduler=0
RenderThreadScheduler=2
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=4

255 gives you all cores used, which would allow P3D to place a thread on virtual core 1, which would impair overall performance.  So, 253 may be better, or even 245?

When I learned the F1 GTN was not being updated anymore I went with RXP as there was a sale on at the time.  Have to say I'm very happy with the product and support.  Perhaps @RXP might consider a discount now for people who need an operable unit and switch?

I went with RXP purely from a service and support standpoint.

Jean Luc is very responsive in that regard.

Money well spent.

Anyone have a suggest for JobScheduler for the 10900K (10 cores, HT Off) or should we just let P3D configure it for us?

Also can JobScheduler be removed all together?

P3DCoreAffinityMask=21845
MainThreadScheduler=0
RenderThreadScheduler=2
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=4

@Wise87 I'm using those numbers but they are for 10 cores, HT on.

When I was on 5.3 mine was 255. This was due to HT off and using all 10 cores. I found a great Affinity Mask Calculator here even though it only goes to 8 cores.

It lets you select the core or enter the values.

[JobScheduler]
AffinityMask=255
P3DCoreAffinityMask=255
MainThreadScheduler=0
RenderThreadScheduler=2
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=4

I have the same CPU and went with.

[JobScheduler]
AffinityMask=255
P3DCoreAffinityMask=252
MainThreadScheduler=2
RenderThreadScheduler=3
FrameWorkerThreadScheduler=4

Still testing.

Running an i9 9900k with HT off (and no, I am not turning it on as I run my computer for long periods of time and like the cooler temps with HT off). What would be a good setting for i9 9900k with HT off?

AM of 255 is using only 8 cores, how come all 10 cores?

Hi Kevin,

If I’m not mistaken, that should be 8 cores (16LPs). As you may have noted from my signature, I’ve been using that value with my i7-5960X quite effectively for some time now. No harm in using for a CPU with more cores as it leaves the remaining cores free to be assigned for use with various 3rd Party Addons.

Regards,

Mike

This is what my config says , i have a 9700k 8 physical cores only , is this right. i thought you didnt need Am if you had stright cores only ,  thought it only applied to HT ?

Thanks Mike, but nope.  I'm using a 10850K, with 10 cores, just only using 8 of them for P3D and leaving the other 2 masked off for addon exe's

I stand corrected. It was 1023.

Yep on the deleted jobscheduler section Running W11 tho and no issues on Stock P3D 5.3. Still stops and stutters not sure what's going on there,
