January 6, 20224 yr As the title suggests, I'm very pleased with this update, er - hotfix? Call it what you'd like, but after downloading, I'm pleased to see a lot of issues have been fixed. I didn't partake in the beta because I was worried about having to reinstall the whole thing, so I know a lot of you have already seen the improvements. TrackIR being fixed is huge. Along with the weather. Overall, very happy. How do others feel about it?
January 6, 20224 yr I wasn’t a part of the beta either for the same reasons as you, however I did fire up the sim after the update, keeping in mind I didn’t read the patch notes, I didn’t really notice anything different in the sim, but I also didn’t spend time looking for differences either. I’m hoping the fixed the pilot assistance option resetting every time we accessed the marketplace… I’m going to wander off and read the release notes! January 7, 20224 yr I like the slightly better fps and color shades in the beta, which is the same as this update version. EDIT: But above all the menu settings no longer auto reset to EASY. Update was just a few kilobytes from the Beta to this patch, and no reinstalling of large files. I presume because I had also moved away from the dangerous default installation path. January 7, 20224 yr Author I think I spoke too soon. Flying the WT CJ4 up from Santa Monica to Seattle and just had a crazy weather pop-in. Cruising along at FL40, small patch of haze down below but no clouds and then BAM -- clouds everywhere below me and a big wind change spike. I get it, weather is hard and I have faith they'll figure these things out, but word not allowed, it sure breaks that immersion. Oh well. Onward and upward.

Gonna catch flak for this comment, but man I wish the METAR/VATSIM crowd had their own weather toggle. I like my non-popping weather from the release build. 😞 Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Ultimately though, it is down to Asobo to fix it, then everyone can be happy. I have been on the beta since just after it came out, so there is nothing different for me after the update, but I do think is is fairly stable and fixed up nicely other than the persistent live weather issues, which have occurred since day 1 really. VR still has some issues of course, but I have never tried it myself. Edited January 7, 20224 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I thought the weather worked fine before the METAR change. It wasn't spot on, but I'd rather have that then have my weather completely change and roll my plane over. I mean, come on...
January 7, 20224 yr Agreed, a toggle would be nice, but to be fair I saw that transition only once in the beta, not sure if it's due to a lack of metar in an area or something to that effect. Only saw it in Alaska where there were not many airports with metars. Overall though I think the updated servers it's purpose. VR is working well regarding the color banding issue and the windows not working. And the new VR issue with the mouse hover blocking the controls is an annoyance but easily rectified, just have to remember to move the mouse off the window.
January 7, 20224 yr TIR working properly again, picked up a few FPS while on the tarmac, no high altitude temperature spikes.... life is good! 👍 [email protected] - ROG Strix Z790-E - 2X16Gb G.Skill Trident DDR5 6400 CL32 - MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X - WD SN850X 2 TB M.2 - XPG S70 Blade 2 TB M.2 - MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold PSU - Liam Li 011 Dynamic Razer case - 58" Panasonic TC-58AX800U 4K - Pico 4 VR HMD - WinWing HOTAS Orion2 MAX - ProFlight Pedals - TrackIR 5 - W11 Pro (Passmark:12574, CPU:63110-Single:4785, GPU:50688)

Its like on the top 5 wish list. Edited January 7, 20224 yr by jbdbow1970

On that note however, keep in mind, ASOBO is still working on the weather system overall. They were just trying fix the glaring issues at present time. There's still much more they're going to be doing, so eventually, it should be the same for everyone regardless if you're on VATSIM or not. Edited January 7, 20224 yr by Jeff Nielsen Jeff D. I'm part of the VATSIM crowd and I have NO desire for a third=party live weather engine; unlike the P3D days, I no longer need to write a program to start 8 different applications before my simulator.
