January 7, 20224 yr While checking on if my reinstall yesterday had also deleted my Community folder I ran across an interesting issue. It seems that they moved the location of the Folder. It is now in the Root directory and not in the same path as the Official Folder. Anybody else notice this oddity? [edit] I need to add that there is still a Community Folder where it was originally but when I installed the AFC Bridge from Honeycomb it went to the "new" folder in the Root. For some reason, progress on everything but bush trips carried over. Anyone know of a way to "cheat" and get that progress back? E.g. some back-end way to flag certain legs as complete?
January 7, 20224 yr Thought I was going to be in the same boat.... but caught the directory path was not to my (non-default) MSFS install location. When pointing it to the right place. No Issues. I can't recommend strongly enough for future proofing: 1) Install MSFS at a non-default location, so your ready for future Betas..... and 2) Utilize Addon Linker to keep the real community folder (where you content is stored) away from the program location. Both steps, literally take seconds, have no downsides, and can save you days in the future. signed, ....for once I've done this right 🙂

I thought perhaps MSFS installation would back it up but no joy! MSFS installation wiped it out completely! LOL Here is my fresh 2022 start! LOL On a good side there were a lot of add on they I'd rather got rid off anyway, but it completely caught me off guard. Any one experience anything like that? I never opted into the beta, and I have been re installing now for 18 hours? Its insane.

Bush trips have been broken since one of the recent Sim Updates, and, while Asobo fixed the bugs, previously saved data are still corrupt and continuing them may lead to issues. I didn't fly bush trips myself for a while as they were broken, but there are several threads on the official forum on this topic. In my case the installer showed 115 GB to update. I changed the location from DEFAULT FOLDER to my MAIN MSFS FOLDER and the update was ready within 15 minutes. Before that, i moved all my content of the community folder to another folder and back again after the update was complete. January 8, 20224 yr Happened to me as well, but luckily enough I was aware about the potential issue that the sim wants to install in its default location, after switching this back to my actual install location, update went through flawlessly, just some little amount of files needed to be updated (1.12 gigabytes in MS Store though). It happened to me as well today after leaving the Beta, launching MSFS, updating via the Store, re-launching and it asked for the 100+ GB download because by default the installer pointed to the default installation folder although I have my packages (official, community...) set to another SSD. I figure out my mistake after it has started downloading 50% (hopefully, here in France I have 5Gb/s Internet download bandwith)... then I killed the download installer, re-launch it and point it to my extra SSD package and it starts immediately. Package folder away from the default installation folder (as warn when joining the Beta) + Addons-Linkers which allows all community data to be on a third NVMe 😉 I got the update early in the morning, but didn't see the note about "leaving the flight" until a couple of hours after I thought I had (correctly) updated MSFS. When I saw the post mentioning leaving the flight, I went and did that. The next launch of MSFS started the installation again, and I simply dd not notice that the installer was pointing to the MSFS default install path so I let her rip. It did a complete, new, second installation of MSFS on my C drive in my user profile folder <Rant>Hey! MS/Asobo... offensive initials not allowed? We have these nice little things called "Program Files" folders. As hard as it is to believe... we like to install applications there (or somewhere else if we choose so). Who in the world ever told you that it was a good idea to use a user's profile folder to install an application? Settings and data go into profile folders, not applications. Ya big goofs.</Rant> I had been using MSFS in dev mode for a couple of hours and went to do a regular non devmode flight with my project installed. I used the addon linker to activate my project and launch the sim. When the sim finished loading, my project wasn't there. About 30 minutes later I realized that the stuff the addon linker was putting into my Community folder was being ignored. Further investigation revealed that I had a complete fresh installation of MSFS in the default AppData folder location with it's own (empty) Community folder. My original installation was still on my E: drive along with my real Community folder, but both were being ignored. The reason that I replied to this thread is that I was able to "fix" this by simply deleting the "Official" and "Community" folders from the AppData installation. After deleting them, I just used the same start menu shortcut that I always have been, and it launched my original copy of MSFS using my original Community folder. If you have MSFS in a non-default installation and accidentally reinstall to the default folder, it is easily recoverable if you just let it finish the incorrect installation and then delete those 2 folders to go back to your original. YMMV if you nuke the 2nd install in progress. Let us know if you try it. January 8, 20224 yr Hey guys, I appear to be in a similar position (currently halfway through what appears to be a new install of around 130 Gigs). I have fairly quick internet so its OK, however other than losing my community folder (again not such a big deal as I didn't have too much in there) I was wondering if I lost all my controller profiles as well? Setting up the bravo's autopilot is a bit of a pain, so just wondering if I have that to look forward to? Also as far as ORBX is concerned, I take it I will have to redownload all the airport sceneries again to get them installed on the new version? Many thanks, Anthony Anthony Milner
