COMMUNITY TRIAGE UPDATE

Click here for the list of Known Issues.

Here is an update on a few of the most popular bugs currently being discussed in the forums:

SDK UPDATE

  • General
    • As a start to a great 2022, we will soon invite you for a new live SDK Q&A, just like we did a couple of times last year. There will not be a specific topic this time, so please come with any unanswered questions you may have. We’re looking forward to an interactive session.
  • Dev Mode
    • Metadata is now properly deleted upon a Clean Package operation.
    • Visual Effects Editor
      • We fixed the blur effect to make it look more realistic. No impact should be expected in your existing effects if you used our Heat FX.
    • Aircraft Editor
      • We just started a global revamp on the Aircraft Editor. It will constantly be kept up-to-date with the existing parameters in the sim – among other improvements to make it really useful when creating an aircraft.

TWITCH UPDATE

We stream weekly on Twitch.tv/MSFSOfficial! Community members Alyson Johnson and Capt. Arash are currently re-creating Amelia Earhart’s and Fred Noonan’s famous around-the-world flight attempt from 1937 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. In their collaboration, Alyson is playing the role of Earhart and piloting the plane while Arash is playing the role of Noonan and serving as the flight’s navigator, including using celestial navigation! They will be joining us on Friday to share more information about this famous flight as we visit several locations in California of historical significance to Amelia Earhart. All are welcome to participate! Click here for details.

COMMUNITY VIDEO

Third-party developer Aerosoft recently announced their highly-anticipated plane, the DHC-6 Twin Otter, is launching next week on January 19. YouTuber British Avgeek received a pre-release preview copy of the Twin Otter and recently livestreamed a flight of this rugged and versatile backcountry bush plane. You can see his experiences flying the Twin Otter over the harsh, unforgiving wilderness of Antarctica in this video.

I didn't see it in the Marketplace just a few minutes ago but wondered the same thing.

That first screenshot of Moraine Lake (one of the most beautiful places in the world I've been to IRL) makes me drool for a higher resolution Canadian Rockies mesh....calling ORBX😉

Canada is one of the many areas of the world that would benefit more from better imagery than a mesh, although mesh wouldn't hurt of course...

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

Totally agree, please update Canada and not just the US.

Just started MSFS but I do neither see any new marketplace content nor updates in content manager for those DLC I already own?

What Antarctica scenery did he use in his video? It looks amazing! :O. Can't wait for the twotter!

GOOD:

- Several items that were previously marked "NOT PLANNED," such as access to the weather and terrain APIs, are now "UNDER INVESTIGATION."

- Live Traffic improvement promised for SU8

BAD

- The question of whether cloud layers are now AGL or MSL is "UNDER INVESTIGATION," over a month after the matter was first raised.  How hard it it to figure that out, if you have the source code and debugging tools?

James David Walley

Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB, RTX 3080

I have to say I was excited to see the PC-21 on there until I saw who's made it 😞

Plus finally Carenado get to sell their C337 EXCEPT in one last twist MS don't actually put the changes on the Marketplace - they really can't get a break here.

Under Investigation means "Right now we are very busy with the next DLC Jorg instructed us to work on, but we will be looking at this issue intermittently as time permits. Apologies if during this busy time we forget what the actual issue was. In that case please remind us during the next Q&A or send a follow up to zendesk."

It varies pretty wildly across a country the size of Canada…in this areas of the Rockies I find the ground imagery pretty good for the most part (some missing imagery near Sunshine Village/Meadows) but the Rockies definitely need high resolution mesh to really shine, they are quite rugged in this area.

I think the default Lake Louise, without any 3rd party mesh at all, looks very good in MSFS.  And I have been to Lake Louise in real life several times.
