Concorde release 30/3/22

Featured Replies

Full credit to @Ray Proudfoot thanks to him I have gone from zero interest in the Concorde to absolutely buying this one and the FSL one for the other sim provided it's priced within reason.  Ray's passion is contagious and he spread some all the way over to the other side of the pond and I caught the bug.  Excited to give it a try and to be fair the dev has been very upfront and this seems worth the asking price.  Hopefully performance is acceptable.

Have a Wonderful Day

I just finished reading a great article about flying on the Concorde in a several months old copy of Airliner World (I think Nov 2021?)

That has certainly piqued my interest in this one.

That might all be true, but maybe THIS is exactly the reason why the devs didn't care about modelling or textures, because it will sell anyway because it's the Concorde.

Don’t care about modelling? Are you serious? Instead of making a judgement before you’ve even bought it maybe wait until you have and then give a balanced viewpoint. If visuals are more important to you than the flight model or the unique systems maybe this is not for you.

Anyway I fear you might be disappointed if you expect this to be on the level of FSL, but I'd be happy to stand corrected, so let us know.

The developer has been quite open about the modelling of the systems and is not trying to compete with the FS Labs version. Given that’s for a different simulator that would be difficult.

Given I don’t own MSFS forming an opinion on this aircraft would be impossible. But I’ve seen enough to know it will please a great many people and the affordable price opens it to a far greater customer base than the FSL offering which still has no release date.

Yeah that's not what I said at all. I understand the Concorde is an emotional topic for you, because it's highly unusual for you to invent statements to prove your point.
About visuals:  It's the other way around, I care a lot more about systems depth. I adored the Ultimate Flight DC-9 on P3D, that was ugly as hell but as deep as the ocean.  As for this version of the Concorde I am quite sure it will satisfy neither my desire for depth nor my desire for visuals. This opinion of mine is certainly not going to be a detriment to the pleasure of a great many people, so let's end this here.

If my words have been considered disrespectful to the developer, I apologize. I was only expressing my disapproval of their development and business decisions.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

You suggested the devs don’t care about the modelling. Perhaps if you’d been clearer about what is important to you there wouldn’t have been any misinterpretation. I’m not sure what your second point is getting at. I try to keep my posts about Concorde objective and state facts although I accept not everyone will agree it’s a beautiful aircraft.

We’re all entitled to an opinion so that’s fine by me.

At the Cosford flight sim show in October 2019 I bought a special Concorde edition of Airliner World. March 1969 was its first flight so a 50th anniversary edition.

Well worth reading if back editions are available.

To my ever lasting regret I turned down the opportunity to fly on Concorde back in the day. My then girlfriend and future wife threatened to go back to her mother if I went. Turns out I made the wrong decision in both respects!😀

Goodwood Travel had many deals including subsonic flights for around £500. That was unaffordable for me back then. By the time they announced it would cease flying I could have afforded it but for some unknown reason I never booked a flight.

Back in 2016 I did the next best thing and sat in the left-hand seat in the Concorde simulator at Brooklands and after takeoff from Heathrow flew her through Tower Bridge before landing back on 27L. Magical!

That sounds like a Sliding Doors moment for you. 😉

It tends to be the things in life we don't do that we regret more than those we do...

Well that's life. The unfairness of it all is that Concorde is not here anymore but my wife bloody well is!😂

If you have never seen the Concorde takeoff & land at Kennedy, I feel that you have missed something special.

Back in 1998 whilst I was waiting for a Delta connection flight I looked out over Jamaica Bay to see a BA Concorde takeoff on the 31L Canarsie departure. Sitting on the left must be quite an experience.

And I was in the Airport Pub garden at EGCC when Concorde took off from 24. We were around 150 yards away and my chest cavity vibrated with the noise. Tremendous!

I was looking through my collection of VHSs and found my copy.

I have never purchased anything from the site, but that's where I found it.
