BTW. I started the sim this morning and a screen came up about the download. I clicked the button and it did the rest.  No Marketplace, no MS Store or anything. Very simple.

My interpretation of this is that you haven't downloaded the world update. You just downloaded the mandatory 600mb update when starting the sim.

Those having issues with the WU9, don’t  forget to leave your feedback here:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/discussion-poll-world-update-ix-italy-1-25-9-0/518393

While I fully agree that's the way to go, I don't recall any single case of a hotfix or such for a World Update. As far as I recall the devs never touched again a country/region which received a World Update, so far. All previous hotfixes and bugfixes concerned Sim Updates only.

Despite, I am all for using the feedback thread. Plus, it's still time to make an Italy "tree" question for the next Q&A which, perhaps, wakes Asobo up. Rome looks indeed, well, "special" now.

And thanks to @Cpt_Piett and @Fielder for the hint to REX Accuseason. I was a true believer in Bijan's seasons so far which, unfortunately, are stalled right now (for known reasons) but the Accuseason tree hight feature is indeed convincing.

Kind regards, Michael

Maybe MS misunderstood the Italian flag as treecolor instead of tricolor 🙂

I believe you are right.  Content Manager doesn't show the Italy world update as installed and Marketplace shows it but doesn't say OWNED.

After all that has been reported here, now I'm not sure that I won't to install it.

Thanks for the response.

Just to point out that this issue with FPS on the ground is probably not related to WU9 but is a SU9 issue. It persists after the hotfix. I just became more aware of it today as I had to troubleshoot for CTDs. Also - main thread being hammered has nothing whatsoever to do with CPU cores getting hammered, it seems. Just took a screenshot of HWiNFO CPU core usage. Image below shows on the left side stats for 46 minutes of flight in the default 172 around Naples. On the right side is after landing, about 6 mins on the ground at LIRN. Looking through the average values for each core usage the numbers are pretty much the same. I'm running hyperthreading on a 10 core CPU, so that's 20 virtual cores/threads.

BTW: I should probably take all this to another thread - I know there's several on this issue.

Now I have to figure out which of my 224 addons cause a CTD with WU9...

Also there's quite some funky stuff going on around LIRN Naples. Lol!

EDIT: ... Neither any "your bandwidth is too low" or other connectivity issues.

Likewise:

Unfortunately, I have been getting the dreaded low bandwidth errors!

And why model the Pantheon without the fountain in front of it? It's just a photogrammetry spike.

Also, as much as there are too many landmarks for them to model them all, why are we subjected to an awful photogrammetry Colosseum and Castel Sant'Angelo?

It's starting to look to me as if they forgot to include the excludes and flattens in their upload. Rome, Milan, Naples overgrown by trees, sunken airports. Do they actually test their stuff before releasing?!

A very good question... not for the first time. But hey, I bet Jorg will smile this away in the next Q&A session...

Maybe I dont understand you but I have seen several fixes on (f.i. Iceland and the UK) long after their respective World Updates.

Not hotfixes but fixes in a next WU

No, it's clear an obvious! Not just the trees but a quick flight at low level just above Lake Garda will show all sorts of terrain mesh issues. Sure it maybe hard to fly and search every square inch of terrain in a World Update, but at least make the effort and try - alas though their history of shameful quality control is there for all to see....and it's still not improving after all this time 🙄

Ah, there you are. Thank heavens! I was beginning to get a bit worried that this update might not be blessed with the traditional dig at Asobo’s quality control from MarcG.

Phew!

Just stating the truth and will keep stating it until they get their act together 😁

I love this simulator, but they need to be told when they're constantly failing as well as praised when they do good.
