Anyone tried the mod to use google map instead of Bing?

There seems to be (at least) two key aspects for running this mod correctly:

1) Run it in admin mode before launching MSFS.

2) Stop the mod, don’t just shut it down, for the changes to the hosts file to revert back to normal.

Did that, it still caused problems for me.

So I think in your case the best solution is not to run it at all.

Quite the opposite for me, go figure.

…or volunteer for root canals 🤭

Hopefully you got your sim back to its habitual state after the ordeal.

word not allowed. Was hoping this was fixed in the recent update.   But did you use cache @Zimmerbz?

My goodness, reading this thread one would think it's unbelievably difficult to highlight and delete two lines from a text file (which would only be necessary if you failed to shut the mod down normally in the first place, but is still the very worst case scenario and takes all of 5 seconds.)

The text file has nothing to do with it crashing your sim, or dropping the incoming data when you are flying.

The *mod* has nothing to do with those things ;).  Witness the people complaining about such things who have never used the mod.

Since day one of this sim there's been a certain kind of stutter that some people suffer from that I've always been convinced had something to do with how Microsobo is streaming us the data.   Symptom was quite a large stutter where GPU usage drops to as good as nothing for a second.   I would have one or two of these an hour (roughly) Apart from that my sim was smooth.  Been like it from day one of this sim for me.  (Not a single one of my many other games stutter, it's not a system related thing)

Around 15 hours of using this mod so far.   Not a single one of those stutters has occurred.    I also note lower vram use compared to stock.  Now i have no doubt at all that something to do with the data streaming in the stock sim is causing certain performance issues for some.

Yes it did that after two minutes, something popped up that said it was off line or something similar, it never came back on, an over an hour flight. I never had that problem with MSFS default scenery.

I don't understand "Stop the mod, don't just shut it down"

I've been using this mod for several months now with no problems.  After I close down the sim, I pull up the mod page, which I have minimized and hit File-exit which closes it.

So I don't understand if this is "Stop the mod" or "shutting it down" or something else entirely.

Please explain.

No way! That is impossible according to sky_pilot071🙃

Users experiencing tile pop ups and blurries aren't being truthful according to his logic.🤔
