Been simming since FS Version 1, on the big floppy disc in 1983.  I played it at my job in the NYC government on a true IBM PC that was confiscated under the old RICO Act. That PC sold for about $5,000 retail at the time!  (It had a 30MB hard drive and about 280 Kb of RAM).

I'm 75

so we have

25 the youngest

89 the oldest,

majority over 50.

many began on FS1/FS2 and are older than the Asobo developers or Jörg Neumann (56) 😊

It would be interesting to see if the ages represented were different if the same question were asked in the official MS forum or flightsim.com...

First flight sims I had were on the Commodore 64, then I had SubLogic Flight Simulator on the Commodore Amiga (i.e. the start of the FS franchise before it became a Microsoft product). First version of MS Flight Sim I had  for PC was FS95, but I also had some version of FS on Apple Macs.

Started flying the real things in 1997.

In the Navigraph survey the most prominent age group is mid-20s and far more than 50+. It's heavily dependent on where you ask. I would assume flightsim.com to be largely the same as AVSIM, while the MSFS forums are probably more mixed and places like Reddit are probably more frequented by younger people, relatively speaking.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

First Flight sim was a cardboard box in the back yard.

From that perspective my first flight sim was wandering around my neighbourhood with die cast airplane flying “long haul” from my house to one block over 🙂
