Also, the 4080/12 Gb runs on the AD104 chip while the 16 Gb version is on the AD103 chip. The lower number, the faster.

4090 on a 5800x, 32go DDR 4 with a Quest 2.
Playing in VR is definitely a whole new experience. I can play at 45fps (90Hz ASW ON) with -19% headroom with all graphics settings set to Ultra. With DLSS set to Quality, I can push the supersampling to the max, so above 4K and no more shimmering is a delight for the eyes
I’ll try pushing the refresh rate to 90Hz and 120Hz which is the only thing that’s not maxed out at this point.

A game changer in my opinion (DLSS plays a big role in this as well obviously), no more stutter, even with an airliner at a big airport, everything’s butter smooth absolutely everywhere.

I also think it's a game changer.
Using the 4090 with Beta 11 and frame generation on a 120hz TV and with Riva tuner x/2 option the frames are locked at 60fps without screen tearing .

With the use of frame generation it's 60fps always everywhere.
Using the quality option the quality is good enough for me on a 65 inch TV

So yes I am happy.

Witch CPU are you using?  @49 inch 5120x1200 I get only 36-40 FPS in the fenix A320 with High settings.  I have a AMD  5800X3D

i thought at least to reach 60 FPs

Wow, that’s going to be quite a system to run MSFS on 🤩

I captured a few more videos in LA showing how the 4090 performs with DLSS3. Unfortunately the image distortions due to AI frame generation is more noticeable with lower fps in the Fenix video.

The HD processing is not finished yet though.

The 4090 is sold at 5 retailers here in the US.    Best Buy, B&H Photo, Microcenter, and then there is Amazon and Newegg.

Microcenter tries to combat scalpers by selling strictly to in-person buyers, and limiting the number of cards purchased by one individual for a period of time.

B&H and Best Buy sell to the first buyer, B&H has notifications.

My problem is with Amazon and NewEgg, who are also "marketplaces". They literally facilitate scalping. On launch day one scalper bought 10 cards from Amazon and immediately listed them on Amazon Marketplace. The end customers got screwed over by the scalpers, and then thanks to those same scalpers Amazon got to profit twice from the sale of the same cards when they got their "cut". NewEgg is the exact same situation.

I don't accept the meme that Nvidia is trying to combat scalping. As far as I'm concerned, the only reputable parties involved are Best Buy, B&H, and Microcenter. And now thanks to the leather jacket guy we don't even have an EVGA queue anymore. Something has to change imo.

Technically it wasn't a "paper launch", but it doesn't feel any different than a paper launch because even Nvidia allows two retailers to scalp.   Luckily AMD is about to release their new cards,  which look very good.

Here is a good video showcasing the 4090 and DLSS3 when using some complex aircraft and scenery:

Seems like instrument artifacts are less of an issue with SU11 and DLSS3.

Wow. If I hadn’t all ready ordered, after that video I would be. SOLD! And that’s on a 10900….. waiting like a kid in a sweet shop now for this 7950X to show up!

Agreed. But I also place huge blame on anyone that buys from a scalper.
