this card will not make use of the new and future Monitors with DP2.0 244hz

what, no 244 fps on a brand new 4090? seriously? I am cancelling my order as we speak. 😆

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Quite true from my point of view with a great quote "Fly the fricking sim!" to boot!

I disagree with the TLOD and I personally can see a difference. I also see a difference in resolution. But i do what i do and he can do what he does. I also choose not to bring this issue about locking frames at 30 at every opportunity but to each his own.

Can we now get back to what this topic is about ? DLSS3 and the 4090 and how it would affect the sim in various scenarios ?

Edit .. new drivers appear to be out supporting the feature.. Going to take some time for someone to get their hands on one of these cards but i think the more discerning among us would like to see how this tech performs in main thread limited conditions where the base (real) frametimes become very variable due to heavy cpu load.

Would also like to see if there is discernable lag when this feature is enabled.

I believe DLSS 3 will be available for 30 series as well, but it won't be as efficient as the 40 series due to some extra hardware on the 40 series.
And they'll probably wait until they've sold a bunch of 40 series.

But currently with DLSS 2 on 3440x1440 I can run about 100 FPS in rural areas, or about 50-60 FPS in complex scenery. Some dips when looking in certain directions.
I think I'd benefit more from a CPU upgrade.

Time will tell to see if this is a real game changer (I mean sim changer) especially with the most complex airports loaded up at 4K.

no one has tested that using a 4090 yet. Captain Piett might be the first one, we are all watching and waving "good buy" in real time in FSLTL as his box leaves today from Berlin to London. I wish for him it arrives before the weekend, waiting must be a torture.

Lol 😂 Doubt it'll be here before the weekend, the order is still "being processed". But rest assured that I will type up a mini-review as soon as I get my hands on it. Or rather - as soon as I finish completely disassembling my current rig into an open table mount, as there's no way it will fit in my current case. Haha, can't wait, will probably spend half a day just doing that.

Anyone in the market for a watercooled 3090 Strix OC?

Apparently the new driver has DX12 enhancements for big performance improvements in previous gen cards as well:

Worth a test...

Many of these optimizations are most beneficial in CPU-bound scenarios, enabling your graphics card to be utilized to a greater degree.”

sounds promising.

So your “slow” 3090 is the bottleneck of your system ? 🥳

My server , with one of my 3090 cards, has everything on ultra , LOD both at 180 and at Schiphol EHAM (6 rws) with many waters plus Amsterdam nearby and bad weather + PSXT with AIG , I always have 40+ fps…

That is with 2x 4K connected to the card. The card never exceeds 65% load.

So I am curious what the improvement will be in franerate on your system.

The size of a 4090 is enormous from what I have seen 💪

The initial reviews are promising even without DLSS3. We’ll just have to wait and see, and I’ll soon enough realize if being an early adopter was a mistake or not.

Anyone in the market for an aircooled Gigabyte 3090? This old 3090 just doesn't cut it anymore. we beat his price, plus you'll get a free Ginsu knife, an inflatable chair, an ironing board and mouse pads. but wait there is more. free HDMI cable, how much would you pay now? 3.000 $? don't answer yet. And if you promise to tell a friend about it you'll also receive a free download from flightsim.to.

A great fathers day present. all guaranteed in writing. just 4 easy payments. Order NOW!

You are the designated 4090 tester for Avsim 🤣.

Anyways, I look forward to your report.  And I think people want a test with the Fenix A320 and a custom handcrafted airport that is harder on FPS (ie. KLAX, Heathrow, etc) - if you could test this, that would be awesome.

Sure will do! I'll load up the Fenix at iniBuild's EGLL with FSLTL traffic maxed out 🙂 Btw someone has to make some silly choices for the sake of the community, lol.
