It's a free plane coming with a simulation - why would you be expecting anything but basic ?

There was a great push for a straight floats version back when MV first released the Beaver for FSX.  It came later as an expansion pack, so maybe there's hope.

I'd say the A310 is very similar to the beaver in that both are very good models of their specific version but the package is basic compared to previous commercial releases.

Hello,

For those who seem to think that the Beaver supplied with the SU11 is a bit too basic, you should know that French-VFR (http://frenchvfr.free.fr) is also working on a more complete DHC-2 Beaver.
The designed model will be based on the first Beaver models : those with the air intake under the engine cover.

This addon will integrate :
 - a regular wheels version,
 - a tundra version,
 - a pure float version (also an amphibian perhaps)
 - a version with skis (currently modelised)

We have also decided to put STOL kits on this aircraft:
- modified wingtips for a better lift and
- extra back ribs to channel the airflow.
The famous R985 Wasp Junior is entirely modelized in 3D and will be fully visible by removing the engine covers via an optional tablet provided with the addon.

Finally, a Reality Expansion Pack is planned to give this aircraft a little more interest. This REP is derived from the REP developped for your Canso PBY-5.

Currently, the exterior model is 80% done.

The development of this addon can be followed on the official forum via this link: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/return-of-the-beaver/551070

Well now, this is promising news! All I want for Christmas is a well developed Beaver with those options that you listed 🙂

Equally arguably, the DC3 for MSFS does not even stand comparison with its fellow releases, in particular the free stuff Beaver, which shows what can be done.
The DC3/C47 is an icon of flight and deserves better than this, which may be better than nothing but could be so much better than it is.
YMMV

What is wrong with the DC3? I assume you got the Enhancement pack from the marketplace?

Is it just a lack of extras? Or is the aircraft systems and flight model not up to scratch?

Personally I think it's great. Well above my expectations.

I agree. Plus new liveries going up on FT. I really like the DC-3 I guess I'm not too picky but I'm just a take off and fly kind of flyer.

This Beaver looks really nice.  I heard a bit about it a few weeks ago but at the time its future was in doubt because of the freebee coming from Asobo/Blackbird.  Now that the Asobo/Blackbird freebee is a little light on features (especially for a plane like a Beaver) it reopens the door for someone else making one and the more complete the better.  Really looking forward to this new model!

I'm enjoying the Beaver very much. Love flying it at night, interior lighting very well done.

Not really. The devs themselves have said it's the same and even better in some places compared to their X-Plane version.

Looks like there is already an Improvement Mod for it, pending approval.

I'm not sure how one man thinks he knows better than the Milvz team re fight dynamics but let's see if it gets released. If it needs to be patched I'd probably rather wait for the developer to do it.

No, this will be good!  Some known names on the improvement team

Tundra tyres (which some people were asking for), able to hide / unhide the pad, the mad camera views have been fixed, better water and start-up effects, heavier elevator action (some people remarked it was too light).  All good in my book, and more will follow no doubt.  We may be waiting a long time for Milviz to get an update through the market place - you know what that is like, but a lot of this is extras, not fixes anyway.

I hope someone does something for the DC-3.  First plane I have crashed in MSFS for a long time.  The enhanced version nosed up on me and then winged-over and dived in - a known problem with the flight dynamics apparently.  Some say the non-enhanced version is fine strangely enough.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

The X-Plane version includes 3 correction 4 Different body variants and 2 engine choices. This specific model they've included in MSFS might be top notch but the "package" is basic compared to that.
