February 3, 20233 yr Really? Last day of my internet data and I’m up against my 1.28TB data limit. Doing a flight from KLAS-KEWR after turning off streaming bing data and PG just to see the difference, and yeah, a huge difference indeed. The ground looks like total garbage compared to PG, zero detail everywhere and extremely unimpressive. Looks like default FSX. First and last time without bing data. I hit 1000 hours yesterday in MSFS and if the world always looked the way it does now with bing data off, I probably wouldn’t have gotten to 100. Edited February 3, 20233 yr by NismoRR

February 3, 20233 yr I fly with photogrammy disabled. I find that it declutters a lot of “noise” from my ground scenery and the custom scenery of photogrammetry is replaced with buildings by the AI which may not be accurate bt are certainly convincing. YMMV. TANSTAAFL. -B

February 3, 20233 yr This is why Rolling Cache and Manual Cache options exist. They won't help for areas you only visit once, but at least it takes some of the strain.

February 3, 20233 yr Photogrammetry looks post-apocalyptic in most of the cities. So I have it turned off normally. Bing data is always active though. Without it, it's FS2000.
February 3, 20233 yr Unfortunately when loading into NZQN right now I don't have a choice..."your bandwidth is too low for data streaming and you have been switched to offline mode." i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
February 3, 20233 yr I would never fly with Bing live data off, but equally, I never fly with PG on... I don't tend to fly in one area repeatedly, don't use the rolling cache, and thus my early experiences with PG were not good. I turned it off in early 2021. Perhaps it's time I tried it again! 😄 Edited February 3, 20233 yr by JYW Bill 😎FS2024 • Currently in 'GA mode' : A2A Comanche 2024 & Aerostar • Black Square C208, Bonanzas, Barons, TBM850, Dukes • COWS DA40 & DA42 • FSW Legacy, C24R Sierra & C414 • Echo Falco F8L • FFX HJET, Visionjet and P180 2024 • Got Friends A32 Vixxen • FSReborn Sirius TL3000, Sting S4 and Piper M500 • Flyboy Rans S6S • Skyward DA50RG • SWS Zenith CH701, RV-8, RV-10, RV-14, PC12 • Milviz C310R • Air Foil Labs Bristell B23 TrackIR • BeyondATC • PMS GTN Payware • RealTurb • Axis & Ohs • FS Realistic Pro9800X3D • RTX 3080 • 64GB DDR5-6000NPPL licence holder in the UK
February 3, 20233 yr No Bing data makes the world look like FSX but no PG isn't that bad. I have been trying it with and without lately and I have decided I'm generally sick of melted cites. I will use it when I fly to a city that I have not been to that has it but for my regular flights I will now turn it off. Well, when I'm flying airliners that is. Couldn't fly without the Bing data though. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
February 3, 20233 yr I am another one who does not like flying with the PG on, but I DO abolutely leave the Bing data on. Melted buildings and monolithic trees are something I just can't look past. They drive me crazy when I am flying along in the sim, enjoying the scenery and there is a giant melted blob of a building. Or a building that looks like it was shelled with artillery. Every once in awhile I will try PG on to see if has changed at all. I am always disappointed when I do that. But, the non-PG scenery looks very good on it;s own, so it works out for me. February 3, 20233 yr Never thought to try it with PG off. I might have to give this a try at some point. I never turn off bing though, cant imagine it looking very good. Edited February 3, 20233 yr by Lotharen
February 4, 20233 yr I don't really understand the frequent reference to "melted cities". It is true that photogrammetry close to ground level often gives this appearance, but from any reasonable altitude it generally looks great -- amazingly true to life. Who (except stunt pilots) flies a hundred feet off the ground anyway? For a long time I avoided photogrammetry because it severely impacted frame rates owing to a bug introduced by one of the earlier updates, but that has been fixed. Now I keep it on all the time, there is no effect on frames that I can detect, and the level of immersion is fantastic. Just my take.
