That's amazing! Glad I decided to wait...but WHY is the 7800x3D faster than the 7950x3D??? These numbers don't seem real but Paul is a reliable source...........

AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090

FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman
Current 777 CAPT

It's not a huuuuge difference. And probably if you're getting a new CPU you're thinking about a new GPU anyway, and with frame generation on the newest cards, CPU choice is probably even less important.

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

The 7800x3D performance looks great... I'm satisfied with my i9 13900KS... Using a 4090 OCed  (TAA and FG) over Samscene Tokyo with NO air traffic I get 150 fps with spikes to 160 fps... In contrast over NY airports with 100% AIG (all airlines and corporate) i get 40 fps to 50 fps... not bad... maybe in a few days I'll give a shot to overclock the 13900 to 6 or 6.2ghz...

Intel i9 13900KS @ 5.8GHz - MSI MEG Z790 ACE Gaming - MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X - Corsair 96GB DDR5 6400MHz @ 6600MHz Dominator Titanium RGB - 2x Samsung 2TB 980 Pro + 3x 4TB 990 Pro M.2 SSD Raid 0 - LG 4K 55" OLED C1 - EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 PSU

probably isn't, for exact testing, he would have to record a flight and replay it using the exact same environment variables incl. traffic, camera, time of day, weather etc. I doubt he spent that much time and planning into it. nevertheless, the performance between those two should be very similar, but the 7800x3D wins in MSFS for obvious reasons. they have one thing in common though: both are not available. 🤣

Because of the dual CCD's in the 7950X3D vs the single CCD in the 7800X3D, and the fact that the V-Cache is only applied on one CCD whether it's the 7800X3D, 7900X3D or 7950X3D.

I am happy enough with my 9900K mini toaster oven from way back when.  Sure the current 12th gen i5 laptop processor in our work laptops is faster but my ancient i9 does the job for me.

7900X3D has only 6 v-cache enabled cores, i.e. 2 less than the 7800x3D, therefore a pretty useless version for gaming.  the non-v cache cores in the 7950x3D could be disabled in the BIOS to avoid any Windows scheduler problems but then why get it in the first place, unless you can make use of the 7950x3D's 700 MHz higher clock speed of the non-cache cores in other productivity apps.

I am waiting for 9800X3D or 11000X3D

I want 1200+ single cpu score result in CPUZ benchmark.

I will also use as the work from home PC. Productivity will be incredible!

If this turns out to be accurate, a lot of people predicted this based on 7700X and 5800X3D, the single CCD design ...all the TDP towards one CCD vs 2.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D has been on long final since February 28, and not landed yet. 🤣

Hopefully I can get one tomorrow to replace my old 4790k. RTX 4090 FE gets here tomorrow.
