April 25, 20233 yr From what I've read, WU13 should arrive today (unless any last minute delays occur, so from this afternoon (usually 1500Z) we can expect an upgrade of Oceana, Hawaii and Antarctica. Looking forward to flying in a few new areas for me over the next few weeks and particularly hoping that Hawaii will be improved terrain wise (I think we are getting a new PNHL airport though not sure what else). Don't forget to delete your caches, rename your community files, make sure your versions of Windows along with your drivers are all up to date, etc. (OK, I know some of you don't bother) and hope you all have a happy and succesful update day. (Please God, never again) Whilst this can be done within the sim, I usually just delete mine from the disk in windows (though I've not been using a rolling cache since my recent internet upgrade). Delete rolling cache and empty the community folder… not that dramatic really.

MS / Asobo haven't said this for some time (about the community folder), or only to do it when troubleshooting, but the new safe mode feature does this anyway on next startup after a crash. If you must do it, simply renaming the folder temporarily is the better way Ridvan rather than 'empty the community folder'. Call me lucky if you want, but I haven't touched the community folder or even renamed it for about a year. It is stuffed full, but never created me a problem. There have been clashes with mods of course, but not the sim itself. The last one I had was with the C152 improvement compass and AI not working due to a clash with another mod (now resolved), but not the sim itself. Nope 😉. The only thing they say is empty your community if a problem arises after the update. Never seen anything about the cache but if you have an issue after the update it is logical to empty it too. Emptying the Community is using a sledge hammer to kill a fly, by the way. Renaming it (community.bak for instance) and creating a new empty one might be easier. The best is still using Addon Linker of course. EDIT Oops Rob, we posted at the same time... And I forgot the safe mode ! This is just a World Update. If you are not even using this World Update, you probably don't have to do anything. I believe World Updates are separated from the Sim Updates now. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
April 25, 20233 yr ...and the myth about the community folder is still there. Interesting how persistent this myth is still lived. Even renaming the folder or temp disabling in addon linker is a waste of time but each to his own 😉 It will not do any harm but it helps neither in any way. If there is a problem in your comm folder it will occur again not depending on if you renamed the folder or not. Official Upates will NEVER touch the community folder. Rolling cache for sure should be deleted if you have flown recently in the area of the WU as it brings new ground imagery. Cheers T. Edited April 25, 20233 yr by Torsen
