I stopped flight simming because of lack of historical weather in MSFS.

This feature was the one that provided me the most joy previously in P3D with ActiveSky

Being able to fly any route at any time, being able to accelerate the simulator and the weather would follow up.

Now I'm restricted to fly only with the real time, and without sim acceleration. Otherwise weather won't match time of the day. If I accelerate a long flight I may end up with daytime weather during night and vice versa. Imagine you arrive at a location during the middle of the night with typical summer daytime temperatures such as 90 °F and with lots of wind while it should be calm. It's unacceptable.

Have you tried out the use of weather presets?.

Cheers, Ed

I have historical weather always on in p3d and xp so in the old sim platforms a must, yes. For msfs I just adjusted my flying habits. Always real time, always live weather. Follow the daylight and explore new locations. Or do a nice night flight. Would I like to have historical weather in msfs yes? Sure. But would I ever stop using msfs because of it missing? NO WAY. If I really want to have a dedicated time and weather its easy to set it up for a flight... but for sure highly subjective as everything in our sim world.

Cheers T.

Personally I couldn’t care less about historical weather as I would never use it, but what puzzles me is why is so many is against it? I really understand why some want it, and having it would make the sim even better for those who need it. So why all the hate? strange,,,,,

I don't see any hate, I see some saying they don't need it and others saying they need it. If anything I see some of those who need it having some trouble accepting the opinion of those who don't need it, but no hate.

Just imagine if you couldn't adjust the time of the day in MSFS, and you would be forced to always use "real time". Would you like it ? What would you think about the people saying "I only fly real time anyways...." ?

That's what we suffer from, weather-wise, with the lack of historical weather.

EDIT: weather presets are nice for short distance flights. Nobody wants the same weather all over the world.

Resentment is towards a tiny sim group of folks who have a pet project that would require massive resources (not FSX Wx anymore) and slow development on crowd pleasing things like ATC, Wx, Cirrus clouds, flight modeling eceteta.

Also this crowd appears to be to lazy to create their own personal weather.

Please enlighten us how to create our own personal historical weather. We really don't want to slow down the ultra-fast development of ATC and cirrus clouds which have seen drastical improvements in the last 4 years.

Weather presets are something completely different than historical weather. Suggesting to use a weather preset to substitute historical weather just shows a complete lack of understanding of the concept of historical weather.

I just hope that at least some of those in charge of MSFS2024 finally take a look at what was a standard feature in P3D with ActiveSky and understand the concept of historical weather.

You can set weather manually.  You do not have to use a preset, you can define what you want (but have to play some games with visibility, which is annoying but far from impossible.)

Again, there's no such thing as weather conditions which are "inaccurate" for a time of day.  Any type of weather can and does happen at all times of day.

Sure, and then I re-set the weather after every 15 minutes of my flight because I have moved away 100 NM from my last position and clouds, temps, winds aloft etc. will be different?
As for your second thought, you might be suprised that it is colder at night than at day, which means I will never have hot temps when I fly in Asia because I usually fly when it's 3 am over there.

Come on guys, at least think your thought through to the end before posting.

If anything, what I see is the opposite, those that want it have perfectly good reasons for wanting it, and those that dont need it really dont have any good arguments on why we dont need it, except «waste» resources that could be well spent making e.g Dune DLC’s and other fantasy word not allowed that nobody wants….

On Avsim users might agree.  On XBOX they probably want the DLCs.

Most of us understand, I’ve said plenty of times that I would like to see it implemented.  I’m pretty sure I backed the request over on the official forums.  However, we’re not required to join in everybody’s pet obsession.  It doesn’t bother me in the slightest that the weather  is a few hours off of the time of day.  To some, use of historical weather to the point where you know before the flight the exact weather conditions of the whole flight might even be seen as cheating,  as this certainty is not available to RL pilots.  I think the only time I ever experimented with it in AS/p3d was when I wanted to fly a c130 through a hurricane.
