🤞they have learnt from MSFS2020's alpha and beta test phases. Very much wasn't ready, nor was there any flexibility on launch date.

I want to he positive, yet beta testers of AAU2 stated early on that there were issues. These weren't fully resolved before releasing it.

Their track record on listening to testers is mixed. Sometimes delaying, like for SU10, yet sometimes not, like for SU12 and now AAU2.

As much as I like the idea, Im worried that it will look like the nuclear wasteland Im getting with the current PG, so even have more things streamed worry me, when what we have now cant be properly streamed:(

Just taking an educated guess as I'm by no means a graphics coder expert... but I'd think since the trees are 3D, what actually gets streamed down from the cloud servers will be just one model & texture-set per unique kind of tree, and then however many there are on the ground while flying gets rendered & populated on the client machine (that information about how many trees and where could be something like a much smaller data structure/map that specifies trees of type T1 are in one area, T2 another area, etc... i.e. not expensive to stream). This is different from the current photogrammetry where everything on the ground is streamed down as photogrammetry shapes+textures.

Because they didn't say anything about old features. So far we had an 1 minute trailer and a 20 minutes presentation at FSExpo (focused on new features). I doubt they won't implement it at least on the same level we already have on MSFS already. 

Calm down, they've been saying they will share more when they feel the time is right.

Jorg: I mean, that’s the nature of an open platform. I pay attention and ask our Marketplace team to reach out to all the plane developers and ask them to share their roadmap with me so I know what they’re working on, with the intent to stay clear if there’s an overlap. The A380 from FlyByWire is a good example: we’re not going to make an A380 because they’re making one. A lot of the planes that we’re making are historical planes. There’s not much overlap there.

They will probably support MSFS 2020 for 2 or 3 years or so, after MSFS 2024 is released. So probably until 2026/2027. Then they will probably stop supporting MSFS 2020 at some point, especially if MSFS 2028 (or whatever the next version is) is announced.

If I have to guess, they are following the Windows support model. Even with Windows 11 released, Windows 10 is being supported until 2025. They can't drop support of MSFS 2020 that fast because a lot of people will still be on MSFS 2020 at the time of MSFS 2024's release, just as a lot of people were still on Windows 10 at the time of Windows 11's release.

Shame they're treading on the toes of one of the best mods though, Henrik and his team's shipping mod as kaii said no one's contacted them.

Seems to me they're careful when there's a potential paid mod that could clash, but when it comes to free mods they don't take any notice. Other great freebie mods deserve right of place in the main Sim (power lines, we love vfr, cable cars etc) yet AFAIK not one of the above has been contacted by Jorg either.

A shame because some of those free mods are more than worthy of being paid ones, so a collaboration with MSFS2024 would be great to see.

I see no issue with that. It's free so no livelihood is at stake and people can choose to use it or not if it's better than what MS does. Also did you completely miss what they said about the FBW A380? That's free.

He did say some overlaps can/may happen and live traffic features may have to be an overlap so Xbox users don’t miss out fully.

The point is they're essentially wasting their time incorporating something that they could work with the free modders instead, they're now paying employees to do the same job. By working with the free modders they could incorporate those mods in as well, Henrik for example does a brilliant job and it will be interesting to see if the "official" version is any better.
