PMDG B737 update 3.0.70 online

Featured Replies

I can only imagine they have shifted considerable resources to the 777 already, now that all NG models are out for PC and Xbox (shortly).

Personally, I am looking forward to the new AIRAC format that enables RF legs and RNP capability. I think they are talking about that for years now.

I don't agree with this. PMDG products in P3D were much more refined and bugs-free. Now they are just above average, but they are not special anymore.

Totally agree. The 737 definitely felt more solid in P3D overall. Autopilot was a lot smoother making turns, same with any pitch changes. Once you factor in Active Sky which made for a much more realistic weather experience and also allowed for a fully implemented WX radar. Just made for a more in depth simulation imo.

I disagree about the autopilot part. VNAV and LNAV tracking in the MSFS version is much better overall, even if they've introduced a couple new issues.

So I take it roll behavior is not worse in this update, but unchanged? What about engine spool behavior, especially below 40% N1? Is that fixed?

Nope...

Im usually the first to jump in and defend pmdg but its a shame that pmdg is having these issues lately, its just a bunch of empty promises and a lack of innovation of their part. Their engine spool ups have never been accurate but the state of their lnav right now is just rediciluous, and this is after waiting a decade for their lnav "2.0".  For the first time in 20 years I think I am going to wait before buying their next product.  I think we need to show them that they need to start innovating and brining in new features like they did back in 2013, as well as fixing basic issues.  I sure hope they can get fly by wire figured out for the 777 this time, if it flies as bad as their p3d version did its gonna be a skip for me as bad as I want a longhauler.

I've seen no evidence of anything noticeably improved in months from them.  Despite updates.  Still no shots of the EFB or anything on the 777.  I'm sure eventually.  But I've been kind of disappointed lately.

The thing that really got to me about PMDG is their total neglect of the DC6, Gyropilot and GPS tracking  problem that no matter how many users report this problem, they insist they don't see any issue at all, and refuse to address it. All you get on their DC6 forums is "work arounds" that don't work. That and tgheir promise of advanced tutorial videos, that they have also put on "ignore".

Watching a friend fly into Inibuilds Stansted last night it couldn't stay on the localizer kept veering far to the left back to the right and then left again before becoming stable.

Few people on the forums just like reminding others about signatures and actually not helping them with the problem. One guy got suspended from posting temporarily. I guess Karma comes around when they disrespect people.

I gave up on the 737 a couple of months ago and rejoined the Fenix A 320. Everything works well.

Well not having flown either for the last couple of months I guess I'll skip resuming my trek around the world in PMDG's product and switch back to the Fenix.  It is a shame.  I used to defend them but now I see all the signs of a toxic relationship: One party stringing the other along with promises to mend their ways and the other truly hopeful only to be disappointed the next time SO drops off the face of the earth for a couple of days.... 😞  Rinse...Repeat...

It feels like they don’t have the necessary resources (developers) to keep up with the changing API and code base. They are stuck working on stuff the way they did back in the day.

I could be wrong, of course, but it feels like a company that needs to hire a few new developers and do a ground up rebuild.

or they are on the money making wagon, I think the sounds are also still lacking, specially in the cockpit.

LNAV tracking is much better then it ever was before. It keeps to the magenta line almost exactly. But the roll behavior is off and the F/D can be twitchy.

I agree with your assessment that this approach will harm the business. RSR seems to be ignoring clear evidence, avoiding problem-solving, and making immature excuses like claiming they don't see the issues.
I find it concerning that someone like RSR, who is highly regarded as an exceptional pilot would adopt such an approach toward his beloved hobby.
I really hope that he will wake up before it is not too late.
Some people seem to have forgotten that he previously claimed to lack the necessary resources, despite claiming that they hired new staff. Regardless, it is clear that the focus on profit hinders the development of a quality product, with a noticeable lack of programming skills and quality control. Unfortunately, this does not bode well for the future.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

What I don't understand is why PMDG has so much trouble getting an EFB for the 737, yet A2A came out with the best EFB I have seen so far, and the Fenix has a good one as well. Maybe PMDG should hire some consultants from these other companies.

None of those are available on Xbox. PMDG is. Reading between the tea leaves, a lot of the challenge was creating an EFB that had the external connections that will also work on Xbox.
