Captain Sim Is Back! 717

So is there a review out there?  If this is on the level of their p3d 757 I’d take a look. But otherwise see them as an external modeler only

TBH, doesn't look too bad to me. At least they're including a 717 cockpit that can be seen in the product pictures and some system's simulation.

Also the price ($19) looks reasonnable to me, considering this far from being a study level aircraft.

Of course CS is not at the same level that it used to be many years ago.

Cheers, Ed

🤔, I love the 717 and it's definitely missing in MSFS. Having shells wouldn't be so bad is you could add avionics like you can in the real world🤣. But, the community has been great with mods and such🤔. I may get it and tune it against the flight manual myself as long as the auto pilot can climb, descend and track a flight plan.🤔🥶

was a lot more interesting than watching The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

I agree with you on TROS, but Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie since ESB.

You can see in the screenshots, they don't even have custom avionics, it's slaved to the default A320 neo ones.

I'm going to get it for two reasons.  A.  I spent 27 dollars on a pizza at LAX last night, and it was gone in 20 minutes and gave me great displeasure.  B.  I have faith that the community developers will re-do the displays just like MasterRob94 did with the 777s.  The B777 are functional enough with Salty and MasterRob integration, I can't really think of anything that's missing from the experience.   The main battle is the modeling of the cockpit and that has already been won.  Horizon Sim is really doing a great job of fixing these broke airplanes from LVFR and Captain Sim.  I'm excited for the teams CS 767-300 fix and 787-9. I assume the 717 will be as atrocious as the CS767-300, but I guess I'll find out this afternoon.

Amazed this company (and others) continue to release these atrocious aircraft and people still buy it hoping that someone else will come along and fix all the problems (for free).  Great business model, I'm in the wrong line of work...

Not for CS any longer it seems

A good bit of news in my mind. Horizon Sim are wasting their time and talents on freeloading payware devs and their crappy business model-supporting customers.

Horizon Sim could (and should) work on other projects that more people would benefit from, e.g. an improved 787-9. Happy to buy them a coffee for that.

I've asked some tough questions of CS on their forums both related to the B717 as well as their intended audience and team composition. Not expecting substantial answers except for maybe some statements on what's next for the B717, but it's apparent that the CS team has lost members over the years. Whether or not they will admit to this (if it even matters) is another thing.

With all of this in mind, there is certainly room in the community for "ctrl-E" casual aircraft that look nice but aren't systems-focused. The crowd that is regularly engaged at Avsim or other FS communities likely isn't the target market. As someone with a steadily dwindling time to fly, and even less to try to learn a new complex aircraft and spend 30 mins before getting it off the ground, I think there is something to be said for those of us that enjoy jetliners that we can get up and go.

I don't see CS misrepresenting what this aircraft is, so I'm not sure I'm seeing the scam (outside of those who feel like they are overcharging).

For those that do anticipate using this aircraft, it sounds like we can expect Hawaiian, Midwest, TWA, and two more from the next livery pack.

I find it distasteful to throw the scam word around without any proof of something actually being a scam, but simply overpriced.

Captain Sim never failed to deliver a product to me NOR took any of my money and ran where I had to do a CC chargeback , or falsely advertised anything to me since FSX days.

Just shows some folks just love drama, the folks who wouldn't touch a Captain Sim product with a 10 foot pole are always somehow more angry and cynical than the actual customers. 🤣
