February 20, 20242 yr Good to see some further informations. Will be very interesting how that works out with these vioce packages once its released?! So, in the FAQ they state, that if your voice contingent is vanshed, you even can't use PTT (voice recognition) any more. Not a probme especially for me as I mainly will use keys to interact with ATC. And, if its true what he always said, that the voice packages will just pay the costs of the voice servers, and they do not earn money with them, I hope there will be once the possibility that we could implement our own (offline) voice packages. Anyway, looking forward to it. February 20, 20242 yr I’m curious as well to compare with SayIntentions although one is VFR and the other is IFR. I have expection on taxi instruction (does BATC recognise what scenery airport enhancement you have installed) and obviously AI injected traffic+interaction which is a key selling point for BATC. At least, I’m more confortable with the BATC pricelist, considering I can’t imagine the next version of MSFS will not incorporate Microsoft Copilot features (copilot is the commercial name of all AI feature for Microsoft). February 20, 20242 yr With say intentions , which I’m currently enjoying, you have the option to turn off the monthly auto renew on the subscription, so there too you can leave it alone if you’re not simming during summer for example. For people in the U.K. the cost on my bank statement was around £23 for a months use, which I’m happy with. I like the complete flexibility of say intentions, I can just tell it what I want to do and it understands. I’ve been cleared to land on 14R and I’ve asked “ request 14L if available “ and it’s come back “ affirm 14L is available, cleared land 14L”. Other times it’s denied my requests and insisted on a specific runway. I hope, and presume beyond ATC will have similar AI functionality. I think there’s a lot of SI features I’m not using as I’m not familiar with US airspace structure and procedures , as an airline pilot we don’t tend to worry about these things we just go where we’re going. It would be interesting if U.K. and ICAO procedures became available, which I believe they are being worked on. Personally most of my sim flights are either in the circuit or off to a local training area for general handling , IFR approaches or some short trips. I’m particularly keen for a product that will provide realistic vectors for repeated ILS work and go-arounds. In the real world airline flying you don’t really tend to take much notice of other traffic, yes you see things on TCAS and if following someone you pick up on their frequency changes as you know you’ll be getting the same switch soon. Other than that you tend to blot out general ATC that doesn’t affect you, only picking up on your own callsign when it’s called, it’s known as the wine party effect, where conversations are blotted out but your ears pick up on your own name being called and tune in to that . So personally I’m not sure sat in the cruise how much attention I’d give to radio traffic and other aircraft in the background. Anyway I’ll trial both beyond ATC and say intentions and see which I prefer, maybe even use both. AI ATC certainly adds another level and layer of immersion and realism to the sim flying, although I wouldn’t want to use it all the time as one of the big appeals of flight sim flying for me is the pure freedom to go where I want and do what I want without ATC and regulatory oversight. 787 captain. February 20, 20242 yr Dont care what they charge, just give it to me now:D. Also use Sayintentions AI and will try Beyond atc too, this tecnology is incredible:)
February 20, 20242 yr Will be interesting to see how long the Transmission Pack Large will last. I average 4-6 flights a month typically 2-3 hour flights. Flying domestic from United Hubs throughout our network. I guess a good test will be if I deplete it in say 1-2 months at a time. Looking forward to seeing how this all plays together in the end. February 20, 20242 yr Interesting. I like that they're giving us some options... Quote How much Transmission Time is used during a flight? Naturally, each flight will use a different amount of Transmission Time depending on a few factors such as ATC callouts, traffic volume and player interactions. However, we have some rough estimates based on our testing. Keep in mind these are estimates. Your results will vary! NO TRAFFIC Offline Voice Model - ZERO Transmission Time Basic Voice Model - 8k - 15k Transmission Time Premium Voice Model - 25k - 45k Transmission Time WITH TRAFFIC Offline Voice Model - ZERO Transmission Time Basic Voice Model - 50k - 200k Transmission Time Premium Voice Model - 150k - 600k Transmission Time I dunno - it seems kinda expensive. At least the "Premium voices". Taking the average with the Premium Voices w. traffic, is around 375.000 Transmission Time. Now, this could (conceivably) vary depending on the airports, time of day, amount of AI traffic etc... But given that you're supplied with 3.750.000 in Transmission Time at startup, that amounts to about 10 flights. 500.000 Transmission Time is $4.99. It amounts to $0.00000998 per Transmission Time-point. So a Premium Voice flight, with AI traffic is between $1.5 ~ $6. This kinda reminds of the Azure-pricing model, where you pay per clock-cycle per CPU... 🙂 Anyway, I'm glad they're giving us the option of having a free alternative. It sounds a little bit too expensive for my taste, so I think I'll just stick with the offline voices. February 20, 20242 yr At this point, the one thing that keeps me from fully enjoying the sim is the lack of good ATC. Everything else is there, aircraft, scenery, tools,… In other words: I am ready to pay up.

I came to the same result of an average price of around 4$ per flight if you want to use BATC to its full extent. And the initial 60 $ are good for only 5-10 flights. I thought I must have missed something but they seem to be serious about that. That pricing seems quite ambitious.

It's not supposed to be income for them. Anyway, there are free voice packs for those of us who don't want/need the AI voices and/or top-up pricing. Apart from the initial purchase it seems on par with SayIntentions if you use online voices, especially when you consider that BeyondATC also adds AI aircraft and IFR. If you use the offline voices it will be way cheaper than SayIntentions but I imagine that if you fly many hours each day, SayIntentions might be the cheaper option since it is a flat rate. It all depends whether we can filter the use of " transmission time". E.G. can you easily switch between offline and online voices during a flight? I am mostly interested in regional voices during the taxi, takeoff and landing phase while during cruise I might settle for offline voices. If that were possible, perhaps even automated, it might drastically reduce the amount of transmission time needed per flight. Or perhaps online voices are only used for messages directed to you while " chatter" destined for other aircraft are using the offline voices. Sure, that's what they say. But that doesn't make a difference for the user. We would have to pay anyway regardless who finally gets the money.

None of that money goes to BATC, it goes to their voice provider.
