Frame generation for all RTX cards

Featured Replies

Hi, it seems that FSR3 has finally made accessible FG for all RTX cards.

I haven't tested it yet because I'm in the process of reinstalling the sim (since yesterday morning, because the slow speed download bug IS indeed FIXED! 🙂

Still a few hours to go, however if you want to test the mod and post your feedback... 😉

Frame generation requires a few steps to set things up correctly:

  1. Own an Nvidia RTX graphics card with updated drivers.
  2. Ensure Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is enabled in Windows Settings.
  3. Install this mod in your game directory.
  4. Launch your game and disable vertical sync (V-Sync) in the settings menu. Then toggle frame generation.

This will result in screen tearing. To restore vertical sync and keep frame generation working properly, open Nvidia Control Panel, navigate to "Manage 3D settings", and enable "Vertical sync" for your specific game.

  • Really? It's night and day difference. I'm testing the mod right now, on my "old" 3090, and I get a steady 60 fps, with PMDG 737-800, parked at FSDT KORD, at 5120x1440 32:9, I barely hit 40 befor

  • I was one of the people who basically ordered an RTX 4000 series card only because of Frame Generation. And FG is really impressive.  Now I'm glad everyone gets to participate in that experience.

I'm testing this right now and my mind is blown.  I now understand why all the hype about FG.  3080ti, 4K, mostly high/ultra settings and have been pegged at 60FPS on first test flight in the Fenix.  I'm typically anywhere between 30 and 45 depending on whether on the ground or in the air.  I haven't noticed any stuttering, artifacts, screen tearing, etc.  I'll buy my wife something with the money I was going to spend on a 40 series card.

Does it work also on RTX 2080 series ?

Yes, it should work on any RTX series.

I've tested it now with my 3090 and it works pretty well 🙂

Artifacts are generated only on interface elements when panning the view, but normally one doesn't use them when flying. I guess that series 4000 owners don't see this, but hey... it's free!

Unfortunately a bit of a disappointment for me, as no matter what vsync setting I chose in nvcp, the bottom of the screen displayed frequent tearing.

Maybe the next version!

VSync must be forced ON in NVCP.

Are you using TAA and 100% render scaling?

I noticed that if render scaling is increased, artifacts affect not only the interface but also the graphics.

Applied these instructions and enabled HAGS but didn't get a dialogue box when opening MSFS and have no option in the graphics settings for FRG. Have I missed something?

===== Install instructions =====
================================

1. Right click on "DisableNvidiaSignatureChecks.reg" and select "Merge". Click "Yes" when the dialog opens.

2. Locate your game's installation directory. For Cyberpunk 2077, this would be the folder containing Cyberpunk2077.exe.

3. Copy "dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll" and the new "nvngx.dll" to your game's installation directory.

4. Done. Launch the game. You'll see a message box on startup.

So if AMD can do this for Nvidia cards, without all the inside information and advantage that Nvidia have in knowledge on their own cards, then Nvidia could have done it too for cards lower than the 40xx series all along.

I suppose they were just keeping FG as a unique selling point for the 40xx series cards.  Who would have guessed!

I think it looks a bit bad on Nvidia, and AMD have definitely got one over on them.  What are the bets that Nvidia will soon release their own version for older cards soon?  Either way, questions will be asked of them.  As if they will care.

I assume this still won't work in VR?

Interested to know this as well.

Works great so far with the caveat of popup windows distorting during camera movement.

Not a problem, I just disable head tracking when I open Navigraph etc.

If you're using the built in fps counter or shift z it won't register.  You need to look at a fps overlay like MSI afterburner or possibly the Nvidia on screen overlay.

Have you rebooted the PC after enabling HAGS and are you using DX12?

Also check if you copied the files in the right directory. For Steam it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\

You have to copy the files in the folder where FlightSimulator.exe is.
