In real life that's what I used to do, follow the tracks to the town and then look for the airport right outside the town. No radios. No ATC. Usually nobody else at the airport. Rural area. 1 such airport owned by each county (public, free for all). The only fee was to rent a hangar. When the county road crews re-tarred the road by the airport, then they would drive in as they passed by and re-tar the runway. No trees around, so no leaves. KIds on small Honda 50 motorbikes, drove to the airport and cleared weeds in exchange for free flights. May 2, 20242 yr The roads and rails are one of the real big things for me in XP. I love to get down to power line height and fly along the roads/freeways around LA and similar such places in XP. And I've happily driven a car (can't remember now what vehicle it was or where I got it from) out from Seattle and quite a long way south. In fact I also remember "driving" in XP from KSEA to try and find Microsoft. The road and rail and rail representation in MSFS is a joke by comparison. And before we get in to the whole "it's a flight simulator" thing, surely nobody is going to accuse XP of being anything other than just that and yet it walks all over MSFS in that specific area. (and no, that's not an invitation to kick off the whole "my sim is red hot, your sim ain't doodly squat" saga) I'll happily pay a bit more to have all the non-flight related stuff added to MSFS. Bring it on!
