BeyondATC Released (EA)

I did a few flights with Early Access BATC and quite liked it for what it does but I'm a bit surprised that BATC in its present state is in this thread discussed as an "Air Traffic Control" program. It controls my a/c, but that's all it does. All the other programs occasionally mentioned here try, with more and less success, to control my a/c in dependence of what other a/c around me are doing. In its present state BeyondATC should rather be named "BeforeATC". It doesn't do anything I cannot do with a Simbrief route, PMDG's FMC and the excellent Aivla Soft's EFB (unfortunately no longer available) in an otherwise empty sky. The proof of the pudding will come when BATC steers me through crowded air space, whether traffic will be generated by MSFS or by the ATC program itself. Venerable RC4 did just that: exemprarily controlling traffic generated by FSX or P3D. Unfortunaly it's not compatible with MSFS.

NB: Real life ATC was created when the airspace became so crowded that some strikt control was neccessary. Crowded airspace was and is its raison d'être. In an empty sky we don't need any.

Aivlasoft EFB will be available to the end of 2025, and maybe longer.

You guys must have all missed the part where the dev put it to a vote and the majority asked them to release early. Several of us said yes, release early but just be prepared for the dogpile of people

I do not follow the development info / threads on BATC Discord. Have one question, is there any indication regarding the traffic injection feature implementation timeline? Is 2024 release achievable, or should we expect 2025? Is there any rough estimate?

If you mean injecting traffic under ATC control my guess would be 2035, if at all.

Can this application do just GA IFR?  I don't use simbrief etc.  Where does it get my FPL from?  Is SB the only way to use this program?  I just want to fly general aviation direct or airways etc, and then shoot approaches.

Is it only for IFR airliners?

You can do GA IFR but you have to use SimBrief for the flight plan.  There was one beta tester that all he did was GA IFR.  He helped them add a lot of features you need for that into the program.  One example is requesting clearance from an uncontrolled airport.

In the beginning when BATC was first announced in development, there was an uproar by some stating that if it didn't control AI , it was worthless. Then the developer decided he would incorporate AI control, and now I think he has found himself holding a tiger by the tail. They have had different AI programs over the years, some better than others, and all they had to do was control AI. To combine these two functions, AI under ATC control, to everyone's satisfaction, is far  in the distance, if it ever happens. In the mean time, I just dial my AI back a bit so it doesn't flood the skies, and the problems I have flying airliners at a rate of about 15 flights per week, is miniscule. Haven't had a mid air yet. 😉

Dev said that the release of version with AI Traffic injection will take place within 2-4 months after the EA release.
Additionally, if someone purchased the Support version, they will get an earlier version for testing AI traffic.

There seems to be some regional accents as well, I was in New York and had ATC with a Brooklyn accent.

Yes, but the AIRAC cycle is way behind unless you subscribe to Navigraph.

Regarding the more or less 'terrible' foreign accent voices in the basic model the lead dev stated a few minutes ago on discord that there will be an option 'to turn them off' in the next build. If that really happens: 👍

I think so.  It's not a bad ATC for learning the basics of talking to it for Vatsim practice.  I like it so far.  The $29.99 version is the one to get.
