A miracle ? LSFG (Lossless Scaling Frame Generation)

Trying to keep up with this thread.

I guess the consensus is: running my 4080S on a 1440p panel (165 Hz), with native FG giving me about 70-80 FPS on the ground and 100-110+ in the air, I shouldn't really muck with this?  Or are folks seeing that much of a benefit when run on top of native FG....sure it would be cool to get 165 FPS matched to my panel, but is this even in the realm of possibility?

Set your panel to lower hz to match your fps instead, I run my 144hz monitor at 100hz, that gives my GPU more headroom and it runs cooler, I can't see any difference between 100 and 144hz.

    I just upgraded my 3080ti to a 40 series for $6.99 lol.

  • Ok @David Roch I really thought this was going to be the latest "double your FPS" scam out there but I am literally in disbelief.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I decided to give it

  • A little offtopic here but this software works wonders in xplane 12 too. From 40fps to 100fps with all settings maxed out at 4k. It's pure magic. I am speechless honestly.

Is anyone (successfully) using it with GeForce filters?

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

It comes into its own when your fps is below 30, so in my situation on the ground at EGLL,  I can run PSXT live traffic + AIG with ultra all round and its much, much smoother. Once airborne and FPS goes into the 60's , its not really needed. But use it as you want! Just my 2 bits.

I ran it with a filter without an issue.  Was that causing others pain?

I'm pretty close to landing a JKF in the FBW with maxed out MSFS setting and a large amount FSLTL traffic at 120fps on screen with the sim locked at 30fps and lossless scaling X2 and Samsung SmartTV frame interpolation stacked on top. I cant quite maintain the 30fps so I'll need to do a little tweaking to get there. When I have the 30fps it is incredibly smooth with little to no artifacts. Once I get the tweaking done that will be that. I'll have no cause to upgrade my 3.5 year old 3090 and i9 10900K at 5.2ghz system for a very long time. The longevity of this system might surpass my Haswell i7 4770K build which lasted 8 years before I decommissioned it.

Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.

I had to go back to original FG on a 3080.

I got an appreciable increase in frames, but the rubber banding was dreadful when taxying.  You could see it in the movement of the ground vehicles. If you focus on them, and they suddenly slow down and speed up all the time, you are getting more FPS, but it is coming at a cost.

Before purchasing this app I would like to know what you guys would advice with my setup .

Both my pc’s are connected to 4K TV’s running at 60 hertz.

I found that both pc’s are running smoother with FG + Unlimited , than FG + limited to 60 fps.

All extra fps above 60 are a waste but still when panning Unlimited is smoother.

The Left view client is not entirely smooth when accelerating down the runway ( it looks like 25 fps ) even when showing 119 fps.

I must say that when looking at many Fs vids of taking off I most of the time see that left or right look less smooth thah

Do you think that I could benefit from this app in any way ?

Seems like you’ve got a pretty solid setup already. The reason I’m using lossless is to be able to run higher traffic settings than my rig can handle.

EDIT: unrelated to your question, but I just discovered that all my graphics settings have been reset. Hence no DX12, no FG and much lower FPS. So even with the mod I was not getting great performance. Seems there’s some value running it on top of native FG.

That could be a reason, but I am still not entirely convinced this will help because of the Unlimited + FG on is running better than locked.

What about using the app and still run unlimited?

That might be worth trying.

I only would like a little more smoothness for the Left view. But looking at vids, even yours in VC view and the ac is being turned left or right ( view panning) by the tow truck I can see that it is not completely smooth.

Yeah, that’s one of the drawbacks, That and the rubber banding and loss of G-Sync. It’s a trade-off really. Don’t know if I can go back to AIG at 50% now that I’ve tried 100%, lol

That I can imagine.

What MSFS also has and I see it in all vids , is that when flying and looking down to the ground ( below 15000 ft ) or Spotplane view it looks like every x seconds the ac is slowing down a little for perhaps 1 second and then catches up again…

No stuttering at all and clouds seem to move normally.

Don’t think I’ve seen that. I’ll keep an eye out for it on my upcoming flight to Zürich.

Currently testing with different settings at JustSim’s LFMN Nice. It’s a tricky one due to the nearby PG with CU7. I could go for a FG-FPS lock of 30 then double it to 60.

But so far locking to FG 40 then lossless x3 is very promising. AIG 100% and TLOD min 150 with AutoFPS and max 975.

Panning around in external view is surprisingly smooth. I see rubber banding when “base” FPS is too low. But with current settings, it seems ok. Just experimenting, really, trying to find something that works. Which will probably differ from one place to another.
