A miracle ? LSFG (Lossless Scaling Frame Generation)

Don’t think I’ve seen that. I’ll keep an eye out for it on my upcoming flight to Zürich.

Currently testing with different settings at JustSim’s LFMN Nice. It’s a tricky one due to the nearby PG with CU7. I could go for a FG-FPS lock of 30 the double it to 60.

But so far locking to FG 40 then lossless x3 is very promising. AIG 100% and TLOD min 150 with AutoFPS and max 975.

Panning around in external view is surprisingly smooth. I see rubber banding when “base” FPS is too low. But with current settings, it seems ok. Just experimenting, really, trying to find something that works. Which will probably differ from one place to another.

What I mention looks a bit like rubber banding. Just take a look at several vids on YT made by MSFS users.

When I look 90/100 degree Left and Right I notice this. Looking in front of me I do not see it, but it might be there too. The scenery is passing by much faster in sideviews than in the front view. Relatively speaking.

    I just upgraded my 3080ti to a 40 series for $6.99 lol.

  • Ok @David Roch I really thought this was going to be the latest "double your FPS" scam out there but I am literally in disbelief.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I decided to give it

  • A little offtopic here but this software works wonders in xplane 12 too. From 40fps to 100fps with all settings maxed out at 4k. It's pure magic. I am speechless honestly.

I've noticed some anomalies when using the Fenix. The MCDU is laggy and also when in flight the Nav Display is affected, the yellow aircraft starts to jump about on the screen and the path is also moving. Has anyone else experienced this? PMDG was flawless.

I think so. Just flew the Fenix with the settings I mentioned above. While it’s fun with all the AI traffic, movement on the PFD and ND is jerky. Also, changing between custom views is not as snappy as without lossless. So, I’m at a loss now (pun intended) 🤷🏻‍♂️

I kept lossless off for the CRZ portion and it seemed fine on approach into LGAV once I activated it again. One thing I noticed was having TERR activated on the Nav display seemed to cause the wobbling effect, also if you have APT or CSTR active also. Without these selected I didn't have the aforementioned effect.

For me the huge increase in performance is worth the niggle.

I found that checking "Allow tearing" in the lossless scaling app reduces the input latency. Together with Vsycn on in NVCP I don't get any tearing.

I just installed this app and can't quite believe my eyes.

I had to reinstall my 12900ks because my (already RMA'd once) 14900ks has failed.

Otherwise this is on a 4090 with DX12 and framegen "on", using the Fenix at inibuilds EGLL with FSTDL traffic on its default settings.

My monitor has a hardware/built-in frame counter. Before the app, it would bounce around in the 60-120Hz range.

 With the app, it hasn't deviated from 144Hz. The app's own frame counter shows (ballpark) 40/80 ... so ... the app is taking 40 and doubling it to 80, then the native framegen in the 4090 is doubling it again 😵‍ {EDIT: actually not sure what's going on or why the hardware counter shows a solid 144Hz as it's not deviating even when the app's frame counter drops below 70}

Currently en virtual route to Nice. Never imagined it could be so smooth. Don't tell me there's "no difference" between 60 and 144Hz! {EDIT: or whatever is going on!}

If there are glitches, I haven't noticed any yet. Maybe down to individual settings?? I didn't change anything (in or out of MSFS): just started the app and picked the x2 options there.

{EDIT: just tried with FSTDL traffic at 200 at inibuilds KJFK stand A24 and that quickly turned my system into a quivering wreck as usual lol, so there is a limit to the magic here :)) }

I'm still a bit confused.

I followed the OP step by step an LLS fps counter shows 30/60 osd, what does this mean?

My monitor has only 60 Hz refresh rate. According to the OP, in the NVCP I chose: Global refresh rate = 60. MSFS refresh rate = 30 and LLS vertical syn = ON. In MSFS, I Have TAA on and vertical sync = off.

LLS settings are: Scaling Mode: Auto, Aspect ratio. Scaling Type: Off. Frame Generation: LSFG 2.1, X2, DXGI. Everything else is OFF or Auto, except fps counter.

The quality is good and smooth in most cases.

But I would prefer a higher frame rate if possible 45-60/60 with my setup?

30 FPS is what I get in MSFS with FG. I actually get a bit more with 100% AIG traffic at KJFK, but I decided to lock at 30, which I should be able to get on average.

With Lossless this is then doubled to 60.

So, basically, your native framerate is just 15 FPS, and with both FG and LS, you're quadruplicating it, right?

You either have to have HDR 'On' in windows and in the sim and in the App or 'Off' in all three. If you have it on in one of the three and off in the other 2 or visa versa you r going to get the washed out over exposed image. Its you choice either on everywhere or off everywhere and the image is then unaffected by the app

Thank you! That did the trick. Did indeed have HDR enabled in Win, thought not. All sorted now, performance is nice, well good. Not necessarily better than with the FSR3 mod but less artifacts, especially durinng take off when still on the runway

I ignored all the OP's settings and just ran the app on top of what I had set up already: worked for me 😬

MSFS refresh rate = 30

You would want to cap frames at 30 for MSFS in Nvidia Control Panel.  That way, the LSFG app can double it to match your monitor refresh of 60hz.  That is how I am using it right now since I can only consistently assure 30 fps in the sim.  Very smooth panning and very nice experience but if I start getting under 30 fps (AI traffic does this to me all the time, even a fairly low amount) I will still get the usual stutters.

That's what I did, refresh rate in NVCP was set 30 (for MSFS!) and 60 (for Global). IN the MSFS menu, I have no limitations, that's why I've asked. I understood it the same way as you explained it. And I'm wondering that I have only 30 (shown by LS)
