  • Congrats?  Well done?  Sell more?  You need to get this intense competition idea out of your head. It’s not about being competitive among developers of one sim or competing sims. We worry about our ow

This is great news. The more profitable flight sim is, the more future-proof it is.

Wake me up when the competition to MSFS has an add-on over $70 USD that sells 6000 copies in 3 minutes 🤣

And going by who liked that silly comment, you can tell how salty they are lol. If it was the other way around, they would be shouting it from the rooftops. They do it for every little graphical upgrade they get lol.

I hope they make an absolute killing on this

But don't just take the headline figures at face value, there are of course salaries, pensions, sick pay, licensing, premises (??) costs all to come out before a single dollar of profit is made

Good luck to them 👍

Yup, so true 🤣

The takeaway from those sales numbers is that there is a very strong possibility that the PMDG 777 for MSFS may turn out to be a project that sells over $10 million USD in total, when it's also released on XBox. If we are conservative, on PC alone, PMDG will sell, or probably has already sold by now, several million in USD of the 777 on PC alone.

Now I think I am being conservative when I say PMDG will sell several million in USD of the 777 (it probably has sold that already).  Because if they can sell some $466K USD in 3 minutes of sales, you think of those numbers, even with sales dropping after the first day, and that's the type of sales that is capable of reaching $10 million USD in total sales, especially when we throw in the XBox market which will come later.

When was the last time in flight simulation, an add-on made over $10 million USD in sales?  Well, I don't know of an add-on that can make $10 million USD in sales. But certainly this add-on has the capability of making $10 million USD in sales, when the sales are counted from XBox as well.

Thanks but I can't bear it, I have no interest to press autopilot and let the computer do all the work, I can understand all the pre flight and landing procedures but never in between.

I'm really jealous. I'm a quite good programmer, I wish I focused my career on a niche like flight simulation, instead of a boring 9-5 job

No wonder why PMDG can afford their own private jet:

Even more reason to call them greedy. Their price range used to be explainable with the niche they were in. But MSFS economy is a whole different animal. And yet they still remain firmly in the high price range instead of dropping to mid level.

Neither the DC—6 which I owned in FSX allready and I was not motivated to buy it once more.

You really should look into their (PMDG) DC-6. It’s quite good and since you’re into older planes, I think it’d be up your alley.

Totally agree with you there. That meme price of $77.73 is just goofy and we live in a time where a studio like Fenix can offer us their fantastic A320 for under $60. I'm gonna get this on sale, same as I did with the 737.

From Randazzo in the PMDG forum:

So PMDG is paying over 300K USD for their cloud server, and they also sold 6000 copies of the 777 within 3 minutes. 6000 x $77.73 USD = $466,380 USD, in 3 minutes. The revenue for the PMDG 777 will probably be several million USD, if I have to guess, especially when it release on XBox (I think it may even sell over $10 million USD).

No wonder why PMDG can afford their own private jet:

Does it really matter???

They run a successful business apparently. Applause to them for making a boatload of money if that's the case!

It only is incentive for them to do more!

But PMDG don't do sales. I remember Randazzo saying this. Did they change their ways?

Anyway I was expecting 70$ as a price tag while I hoped for less. That it's now 80$ is just so much above my comfort level for a long haul jet that I won't use that often compared to the narrowbodies I own, that I said to myself: No, this time I'll pass.

Even though I don't dispute their high quality output for one second. Time to wait for the Citation X.

It is rare but they did one for their 25th anniversary and their 737 went on sale recently on the marketplace.
