  • Well, if you have a perfectly running sim, and you come home, start MSFS, install a mandatory update from Asobo, and it breaks your sim, whose fault is that?

Only time I turn on my VPN is to download MSFS updates.  Without the VPN the download often goes down to zero.  With the VPN on, I get 100MBs plus.

  • MSFS sure have screwed things up. Removing PMDG 777 & 738 did nothing for me. Still working my way through my community folder instead of flying! What a waste of time. About time software companie

Any idea what some of these hub fields look like?

Doing a flight now but might check out KOXC, I'm vaguely familiar with the airport and KSMF too.

After trying a few times, what is happening is the sim is freezing, sound cuts out at the same time, nothing moves on the screen. Then a few seconds later everything starts up. I have never seen anything like, have no idea what is going on. Prior to the update, everything was perfect.

If the sim is still acting up, perhaps deleting usercfg.opt could bring it back to normal.

Basically better than default which means they typically have buildings.  Some default airports are still flat without structures.

Where is that located?

%localAppData%\packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Just paste the location into file explorer. When you start the sim a new file is generated. You then have to reset all your graphics settings. It could be worth a try even though it’s a hassle.

I looked at that file, seems mostly graphics setting. I don't think that is my issue. I am going to wait and see if anyone else has this issue, right now MSFS is unflyable, so I guess I will wait to see if something turns up with a solution. It has to be the update, because everything was perfect before this afternoon.

The same monthly update, as mentioned before, no issues here. Thanks god!

Cheers, Ed

I tried that, kept a backup file, and it wanted to do a major update of MSFS.  I decided to put the backup file back. It seems whenever something pops up like FSUIPC or FS Realistic loading, then the sim stalls, and sound cuts out. I may be looking at a complete reinstall of MSFS.

Assuming that was probably the case with all those Russian airports

In that case I think you need to specify your sim folder if it’s custom, when it wants to update. I would create a new thread before doing a complete reinstall. At least backup your official folder before doing a reinstall so you don’t have to download hundreds of gigabytes of content.

Are your nvidia video/sound drivers up to date?  The sound dropping out makes me suspect you may have a driver issue.

I will check that, I updated the driver a few months ago.

FWIW, I'm on 551.52, Win 10 and an nVidia 4090 Founder's Edtion GPU, and all appears to be working normally post-update.
