FS2024, are you at all bracing for disappointed?

I really appreciate you wasting my time. I had my hopes up that you would be able to provide some useful commentary based on your stated credentials, but alas, that wasn't to be.

You're welcome ... 😛 You didn't seriously expect me (or anyone else in the world) to give you a serious and comprehensive assessment based on a short video clip, just because of the way it looks ‘from the outside’.

After all, you didn't recognise ‘from the outside’ that my picture above was created by an AI. This may be because you are probably not an expert on AI and supercells.

Well, how do you judge this aircraft (flight characteristics, operation, etc.) by looking at it ‘from the outside’ (and the video is even 1:32 min long)? I mean ... aren't you an expert in such things?

Also all in on day one. None of the major bugs/issues w/ MSFS2020 have ever been infuriating to me like they are to some, just minor annoyances. Big picture, I've loved every second of it and I expect

Even though I knew the pic was AI generated, I purposely did not comment on it because I literally said you could to pretend what you saw was CGI!!!!! All I said was "It's a nice pic" deliberately because I knew all what you said about having impartiality was bunk and your pic was about as telegraphed as a three minute windup for a punch. My comment said nothing of what I did or did not believe, it was a quick comment to (hopefully) have you get to the point.

Maybe you really are an expert, maybe you're not but one thing you definitely aren't is impartial. Honestly, with the way you and others behave, I certainly hope all ropes, poisons and implements capable of causing harm are hidden from you guys come November because I don't want you to hurt yourselves.

You have way too much patience mate.😂

I do try to give people the benefit of the doubt but I also wanted to test all that big talk of him being an expert and his impartiality.

I lost brain cells reading his “got ya!!11!!11” moment.

Yup lol especially when he was told to make the assessment with the assumption that what he was seeing was fake. He can't even bring himself to say something like, "yeah, what's being shown here indeed looks like what happens when these balloons inflate and deflate" because it is the wrong sim lol.

My hardware is barely good enough to run MSFS 2020 at "high" graphics quality and still maintain 30 fps; "Ultra-High" drops me below 16 fps, and that's at only 2K resolution. I don't understand how anyone is running this sim in 4K, although I've seen videos on YouTube of MSFS-2020 flights that were recorded in 4K. I can see by the performance graphs in Windows Task Manager, that my Ryzen 5-3600 CPU has more than enough processing capability, and I have 64gB of DRAM, so the bottleneck is in the GPU. It's a Radeon RX 6800 XT. It was one step below the top-of-the-line when I bought it in 2022, and cost me $750, more than half the total cost of the system hardware, so I can't just dump it and drop another $900 on an RX 7900 XTX card. And looking at the specs on that card, it's got only about 20% more compute units, so it's not a huge improvement over what I've already got. If, as I suspect, MSFS-2024 is going to require a top-of-the-line GPU, then I won't be interested in purchasing it until I am ready to build a new system, and that won't be for at least 3 or 4 more years, unless my current GPU fails for some reason.

The one thing that might tempt me: If Asobo were to implement multi-view windows like FSX had, and the ability to easily build custom instrument panels, like FSX had. I wasreally disappointed when MSFS came out, that there so many features that FSX had that were dropped in MSFS. Not to mention that some of my favorite planes - the Grumman HU-16 Albatross, Cessna C-182RG, and Martin JRM Mars - have never been ported to MSFS.

I fully expect that it will need third party aircraft, ATC, real liveries, ect. to make it work.  I

Strange comment since MSFS 2024 will have a ton of partner content out the box, including real world liveries, vehicles and assets and the majority of planes from 3rd party developers.

If you read between the lines and see the interviews, then you'll know that they are making a massive investment to make places more regionalised which includes everything from people walking around, to biomes, traffic, buildings and activity at airports. They've not said it yet but I would be amazed if they don't have regional ATC accents as well. For me this alone is worth the upgrade.

It's pretty enlightening reading some of these posts, short of the sim becoming a crashfest, there's really no excuse not jumping into MSFS 2024 day one even if you have to sell one of your kidneys.

This is what I hate about the reviews of Nvidia verses and Radeon cards. All the reviews seem to concentrate on rasterisation performance and completely neglect the impact these support systems have on performance. You asked me how you can run 4K, it's called DLSS.

Show us a picture of the Hours Played of MSFS please, thanks

4 hours a month tweaking or troubleshooting, your system is corrupt 😆

I start reading blah blah hours of tweaking, crash hunting and total Windows OS installations and just look the other way.🤣

Maybe...just maybe MSFS isn't the real issue here....💡

Edit to the OP topic title : FS2024, are you at all bracing for excitement?
Having purchased every FS version since FS5.1, I will definitely be entering the credit card numbers for MSFS24! As a primary GA and VFR pilot, I was sold on the opening scene of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 trailer! So much to look forward to in this relatively inexpensive hobby for $120.

And why?

  • Save game, should be for Xbox version (if anything)
  • This is not Minecraft!
  • Idea of resuming a flight the next day?  well the weather has changed by then!
  • Complex aircraft (systems) could run into issues with Save Game
  • I don't like it!

I run 4K without DLSS. I hate that blurry mess. Still manage to get 25-40 FPS most of the time.

Ah yeah, people who have a life and want to still be able to do long-haul flights in multiple sittings are SO Xbox. 😂

You know we have 3rd party apps that do just that for decades, right? FSUIPC saves flights (including avionics states) for years now. That saved my long haul flights back when OOMs were constant.

You guys need to stop seeing everything as “gamey1!1!1!” “Minecraft!1!1!1” “Xbox!1!1!1”.

That’s tiresome sometimes.

It really is.

Thank God for gamers who are bringing a bit of young blood to this hobby. It's sorely needed.
