PMDG is reporting incompatibilities, addressing that there is no feedback from Asobo since weeks. Update unlikely until end of the year.

Fenix is reporting an update within the next 24 hours. This is a hotfix not the 2024 version, that will take 4 more weeks and will come for free.

Also all in on day one. None of the major bugs/issues w/ MSFS2020 have ever been infuriating to me like they are to some, just minor annoyances. Big picture, I've loved every second of it and I expect

I want to see for myself what bugs and issues are there from day one. I will then report them to Asobo for them to fix it. You may thank me later😁

Maybe the plans for MSFS are too ambitious?

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I expect most top-tier developers to offer as free updates any changes/enhancements in their existing aircraft for MSFS 2020 to take advantage of MSFS 2024 features. Of course it's going to come down to the amount of work involved, but I just can't see the likes of Fenix, PMDG, iniBuilds etc wanting to charge for this.

Given that MS/Asobo are also making concerted efforts to improve the SDK and developer tools all as part of making the aircraft development process easier, I hope 3rd party devs won't have to spend considerable effort to take advantage of new features and capabilities.. i.e. how Seb mentioned in this year's FS Expo presentation he was able to upgrade the iniBuilds A330 to the new CFD system/architecture in an hour or two.

That also btw indicated to me that whatever default aircraft iniBuilds have been working on for MSFS 2024 (like the A330) has been on the 2020 development platform. Perhaps/likely they'll get early access to the MSFS 2024 SDK. Would be very interested to hear all the top-tier developers' thoughts (if they're willing to share) once they get their hands on the MSFS 2024 SDK and/or more detailed developer docs on the new sim platform.

I have to say I am more than a little bemused and surprised at just how many are 'in from day one.' I mean come on guys, most of you have been round long enough to know that new releases are more often than not plagued with bugs and issues. Maybe it's me, but I will wait to hear all the feedback before rushing to part with my hard earned cash!

Yes, but they (Asobo) have shown that they can do it already (with MSFS2020) so I'm not that concerned about it.  Any issues, they'll fix.

Also, I like to try out shiny new things.

I'm saying that as rarely a day 1 purchaser of anything.  Actually with MSFS2024 it'll probably be the next day before I buy it, probably because I'm not in Kiribati's time zone and will probably be working while the rest of you are downloading and starting it up for the first time.

That must be some sort of setup to require 4+ hours a month of tinkering .. but anyways ...

My system is a bit complex regarding the number of different peripherals I am running, including VR.  I have also been known to be somewhat persistent in some areas.

Brace yourselves: I'm spending way more than 4hrs a month tweaking settings. Not because I have to, but because I'm always chasing the Holy Grail of performance and image quality. Having said that, I haven't done much troubleshooting with the sim for the last 3 months or so (had to do a complete reinstall because of some obscure corruption issue).

In that case, I see why you spend so much time configuring things. It would be this way no matter what simulator (any simulator being actively developed) you are using. It's the price you pay (and you signed up for) for having a complex setup.

Keep in mind they could just offer a pre-load of the install files a week before release or something, which is something lots of games do in order to avoid the day one deluge of downloads.

Yes, I would agree that no sim is without issues--including ongoing ones.

I use the same rig while flying XP11.55 and occasionally DCS, and, as you correctly point out, they all need tweaking from time to time.

I can only report my own experience of spending far more "tweaking" time with MSFS than the other two combined.

How many peripherals exactly?

Edit: I have 7 + VR

This chart has 10 lines, each platform has:
Win10 (PC MSStore version): 8.5
Xbox: 6.1
XCloud: 4.1
Steam:4.8

Microsoft Platforms: 18.7
Steam: 4.8

MS platforms had almost 4x the number of the Steam players in May. And those numbers go up and down (Steam is the most stable).

TLDR: Steam isn't the most important platform for MSFS.

I'm honestly surprised at the amount of people streaming via X-Cloud

Me too. I never expected it would be on par with Steam.
