I'll wait to hear how Asobo's servers are handling the crowd rushing to purchase on day 1 before I attempt to buy online - I may not be a day 1 purchaser, but definitely will be a week 1 buyer.

Also all in on day one. None of the major bugs/issues w/ MSFS2020 have ever been infuriating to me like they are to some, just minor annoyances. Big picture, I've loved every second of it and I expect

Jörg vented the idea of allowing people stress test the servers a few weeks before launch.

I see a lot of people saying they're waiting for ALL of their add-on to work first........Y'all ain't serious lol. I have a payware add-on for my home airport where I start like 99% of my flights. If FSDG says it won't work in 2024, I am still deleting 2020 with the quickness come Nov 19th.

Another interesting question! What would be ideal computer for MSFS2024?

Why are you reinstalling Windows because of MSFS?  How long does that really take, 1 hour, 3 hours? So to do it "hundreds" of hours why are you reinstalling Windows 30+ times at least!? That makes zero sense.

Well...because after reinstalling Windows you will need to:

2. Install, configure and test the drivers and other software for all your hardware peripherals

3. Download, install and test MSFS for basic functionality

4. Install any add-ons

5. Map and test hardware assignments for each plane or type.

6. Research the internet for any troubleshooting solutions. (Assuming, of course, that Steps 1 through 5 have not gone perfectly and without a hitch.)

7.Test those solutions.

There is never a shortage of people who enjoy pointing out that they have never had the slightest problem with MSFS.

I think they think they're being helpful.

According to them, the minimum requirements will be the same. But if you have the money, buy the best you can.

If you you are on a budget, get a 5700x3d or 5800x3d, any b650 motherboard, 32gb of the best ddr4 you can get, 1tb/2tb nvme and a RTX 4060 or 4070 (depending on how much money you have left).

Just realistic for many of us. Only problem I have had in years, is my AV, Webroot. Uninstalled it, problem gone.

Asobo has said most addons should work fine in 2024 without modification.

I imagine most of the ones that won't work day one will be ones that are or require outside software. Like AIG traffic controller and Fenix's Airbuses.

But I imagine they'll work very quickly to get those programs working. If not have patches ready already if they're given early access.

I wouldn't expect all of them to work - or maybe they well.  I think Asobo said marketplace purchases should work.  But I don't buy much off of there myself.  I'd be happy to pay for updates - especially as those things take time.

Yeah, that is a good point. Especially if the updates are essentially upgrades to the new sim/code etc etc. I only have a few off of marketplace (Vision jet for example) but everything is 3rd party apps.

The fact that most of your videos appear to a casual observer as just random cherry picked footage with little in the way of explicit explanation of what they're even showing or what they're claiming contributes to them being ignored.

If you claim to be a profound flightsim user, you should be able to recognize what's the matter, instead of raging blindly. The latter obscures the view of the essentials.
And here's your chance: you could now make a name for yourself as an expert by refuting my videos (e.g. this one - look closer e.g. from 4:05 min on).

I guess it will depend on how much effort the dev has to put in. It may require very little or no work to make a addon work in 2024, but if there is new tech in 2024 that devs can use to make their products work and look better, then they are likely to charge to cover the cost of development.

Yeah, that is a good point. Especially if I can upgrade everything before. This 8086k and 2080ti are kind of on their last legs...

the Marketplace panel at FSExpo I believe covered how marketplace purchases would be covered. IIRC all addon purchases in 2020 will carry over to 2024, devs can't stop that. All they can do is charge for possible upgrades.

Even doing all that it doesn't take "hundreds" of hours, so quite why you're reinstalling Windows so many times is incomprehensible.

And yes, I have suffered problems, I have had and still do work around issues, I am the loudest voice shouting at Asobo when they screw up (which is often), but sorry you're talking complete nonsense here.

Quite why you persist in wasting "hundreds" of hours (let's face it we both know that's complete rubbish!) is only something you can answer but frankly mate, stop! I suggest you uninstall and go play something else.

I guess you've got me on that one.  I must be the only one who can't run MSFS unless I install it first.  ???

Look man, you've had a good experience with this sim and I'm sincerely happy for you.  But if you need to maintain the delusion that not many people have had serious and continuous problems with it, resulting in the loss of a great deal of time, I would advise you not to peruse the official website not this one for that matter.

I was referring to this part; "test the drivers and other software for all your hardware peripherals".
Nice to see you're completely ignoring what I've told you in that YES I have had problems (many) with this Sim, I have had many issues that I've had to workaround - that's three posts saying this to you now, I'm under no illusion that this game can be a royal pain in the backside so I do fully agree with you on some aspects, read that ok have you?! But sorry you're going waaaaaaaaay OTT with your List above and of all the millions of peole using this Sim I'd wager a bet and say you're alone with your 30+ reinstallations of Windows (which you've failed to counter by the way)!
