64 GB RAM ?

Featured Replies

Just saw the highest RAM usage so far, 28GB. That's with FSHud+AIG running. Now page file is starting to get used, so far 2.7%. MSFS is using around 8GB.

  • Especially with DDR5 and AMD, there’s an advantage with 2 sticks vs 4. Basically with 4 sticks it might be hard to run at the same speed and timings. In extreme cases there could be instability issues

  • No one is actually claiming huge improvements.  Most of us are suggesting incremental improvements we weren't expecting adding to overall RAM consumption and MSFS RAM consumption and noticed less micr

I’ve been using G.Skill for a few years, been happy with that. But sorry, no specific recommendations

No worries. Just remember to check that it’s compatible with MB. Should be a list both at MB and RAM websites.

Understand that your comment wasn't aimed at me, but I did some research on 4 vs 2 sticks on my AM4 platform and the subject is as clear as mud. My conclusion was that it only mattered if you wanted to achieve maximum overclocking by adjusting voltages and timings seperately rather than go with one of the RAM profiles which is what I do.

You can't compare DDR4 and DDR5. What he is saying is correct because of AM5 and DDR5. It's harder for the IMC to run DDR5, so once you move beyond 2 sticks, you get into shaky territory. It CAN be done, sometimes it works just fine but a lot of users experience not being able to boot, instability, having to straight up lower their speeds or loosen timings to get it to boot. All depends on how strong your memory controller is, which is a lottery.

So if you want a smooth experience, you stick with 2.

Microsoft have been doing this to their customers since they started to make flight simulators,
the Christmas party has been looking good for as many years, sponsored by the likes of you and I.

The RAM on my wishlist is now the same price as the difference from Standard to Premium Deluxe 😬 obviously the latter is more worthy which will mean I'll get PD and end up upgrading RAM in a couple months anyway 🤪

if they are on your MB QVL list then great 👍

ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's. OS  2TB 980 Pro , MSFS  2TB WD Black , Kington Fury 64GB ram ( 6000) Corsair RM1000 PSU, Artic Freezer iii 360 AIO  . Phanteks P600s Case ,TCL QM8B 50" 120 Hz  TV,second 24 inch screen for charts you tube etc, and 11" touch screen for the EFB. Warthog Stick and TCA Captains throttle ( full pack)  Velocity 1 Rudder Pedals , extreme3D for the Tiller,Streamdeck XL x2 / Streamdeck +/Streamdeck mini because i like pressing buttons

keep in mind if have problems to run 6000mhz cl30 with 32gb, its much harder on the memcontroller to run 64gb

and second you need to raise the voltage to 1.4v from 1.35v on most kits

Tried the simple upgrade from 32GB to 64 GB DDR4 yesterday.  I must have a motherboard that only likes 2 sticks as all 3 attempts at flights post RAM change resulted in system lockups and CTD's.  Removed the two additional sticks and flew a 12 hour flight.  I guess I will be looking for 2 32GB sticks instead...

Have a Wonderful Day
