Mine booted right up and even got 45 minutes into a few flights after adding the two additional sticks before CTD or hanging... Oh I know. I've run a Karhu test at 600% coverage and thrown a few intensive games at it, it's rock solid. Though I will be doing a quick BIOS update, reset BIOS completely and start over as well. September 24, 20241 yr WOW! I can't believe how many of you jumped at the thought of adding another 32 GIGS without first trying how your system performs as is currently constructed. Please share any improvements with MSFS 2020 after the upgrade. Thanks! MSFS
September 24, 20241 yr no improvement in msfs2020, ive had 64 gb for a while now, it doesnt help with msfs2020, but with msfs2024 it should Edited September 24, 20241 yr by tmholopa
September 24, 20241 yr Managed to drop the CL a bit, so currently running 28-36-36-28. I have 2 empty slots on my MB, so I will order 2 more sticks if needed for FS2024. I was going to do that but apparently you dont get the same speed across all 4. Which is BS ,as it should. Hence why i am selling my 2 and getting 2x 32gb Mike
September 25, 20241 yr Example MB chart. from left to right B1 B2 A1 A2 for 2 sticks put them in B2 and A2 for 1 stick, put it in A2 (4th slot from left). Almost all MBs have the 4 slots in the exact same order. To find RAM that is compatible, go to your motherboard maker's site and look for the page or file called QVL for your specific MB model number. The QVL list for any maker is the list of RAM model numbers which the motherboard company declares is compatible with each model number of their motherboards. It makes no sense to try non QVL list RAM. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. September 25, 20241 yr 3 sticks is not recommended usually. 4 sticks: fill 'em up! The most trouble free is usually 2 sticks then 1 stick next, then 4 sticks, then 3 sticks is the most risky. Hopefully the likes of digital foundry will get their hands on 2024 and produce a comprehensive technical review - they did for 2020. September 25, 20241 yr I'd be cynical about 64GB except for the streaming nature of 2024 where insufficient RAM would affect performance. I was going to wait and see, but the lack of high quality DDR4 RAM on my favourite supplier's site made me jump now. I don't want to risk paying twice as much in November for mediocre RAM. September 25, 20241 yr I'd be glad if the new sim were able to scale up from 16 GB of total shared memory on console to 64+12 GB of RAM/VRAM on PC, if that meant no pop-in, no morphing, no stuttering, etc... 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
September 25, 20241 yr I have an AMD 7800X3D, and I have read that performance deteriorates with 4 sticks on the X3D series, I have also noted that the memory controller on AM5 boards gets heavily loaded with four sticks as well, which causes instability. So for me it's about buying two new 32GB memory sticks and removing the cooler to be able to install them, and I'm definitely not looking forward to that. I hope ASOBO comes up with an explanation soon as to why so much memory is needed.
