October 12, 20241 yr trying to get working my FF2 microsoft, it's detected but no flight surfaces or throttle axis working. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Same here with thrustmaster stuff, started to manually assign at least the basic flight surfaces. Old GUI was actually better. And no idea why there are no default profiles assigned. Well, maybe because it’s a tech alpha Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

October 12, 20241 yr There's a lot of folk out there (not just here at AVSim but elsewhere) who don't really understand the premise of this Alpha test, lots of complaining about stuttering which could well be server related - the very reason this Alpha is taking place, lack of features, controls not working, no VR, grass details the same as 2020 etc etc. Hopefully though for the time they're in the game Asobo/MS are getting the data they're after which is fundamentally the most important thing, anything that can help them improve server structure and data transfer ready for release is good for all of us. Glad I didn't bother signing up though, rather save my first impressions for release day. October 12, 20241 yr All the tech people in here and no one has commented on the CPU core and memory usage improvements or lack there of vs FS2020?!

Because treating a tech alpha like a full blown release is a wasted effort. Right now making comparisons wouldn’t make sense because as demonstrated this tech alpha doesn’t contain its full suite of features not to mention majority of people here fly with a plethora of addons. Doing tests in a sterile environment won’t properly represent your normal simming.
October 12, 20241 yr Loading times are impressive. Control assigment a little bit messy, but made it to work. Only one small problem, stability! With 3 monitors, it crashed almost instantly. With 1 or 2 monitors I've been able to have flights no longer than 10 minutes, sometimes even 2 mins after takeoff, same thing. Crash to desktop, or simply frozen. I know it's a beta/alpha test, but would have been mice to fly it more...

Multithreading is vastly improved, all 16 threads of my CPU are equally used. The improvements however don't translate into a better framerate than MSFS, the GPU is heavily hammered all the time despite the low resolution terrain and PG, and missing features (real world aircraft and liveries, ray tracing... At Ultra settings with the C172 I have 45-50 fps with TAA and 70-80 with DLSS Quality. Dynamic settings don't work and windshield effects always reset to medium. DLSS is still trash for glass displays and water. Short draw distance and buildings pop-in near airports are still present at TLOD 200 and even 400. TLOD 400 still causes stuttering despite 50+% CPU headroom. Also, I noticed many elevation problems and a lot of ground traffic nonsense at airports. Other regression: ATC window key doesn't work as toggle anymore, only to open it. Very annoying. On a positive note, ground and air handling of the C172 feels more realistic, more affected by wind and gusts. Clock says Sunday 12 October (???) Funny thing, apparently Asobo is confused whether to call it alpha or beta. Edited October 12, 20241 yr by MrFuzzy 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

EVERYTHING else in this release it being loosely and unfairly judged, I see no reason why the core engine basics shouldn't be also.
