Major update today?

Featured Replies

I played the FS2024 all weekend long and of coarse that ended.  Launched FS2020 today and was greeted by a new mandatory update.  It is huge like 564 + or - files and it's taking forever.

I was not aware of an update for today in FS2020 and not mentioned here on the forum.  Anyone else get one? It's like it's installing the game again.  If I am lucky it might be done this evening!

Kind of annoying as all I wanted to do is brouse the new iFly Max 8.

No update for FS2020 here and ive been flying for the last 2 hours

It looks like it's installing the whole thing again.  The FS2024 installed must have borked it.  I don't see how it would?

That would be my thought.  However, I'm sure MS or ASOBO said that they could reside on the same PC together.

this is what I just got from Marketplace Update:

very nice.

I also was in the alpha and had MSFS 2020 basically telling me to install the entire sim, which was very confusing---turns out the launcher/store just got confused by the file pathway (must have been reset w/ the 2024 alpha). So I changed the download location to the location of the installed MSFS 2020 files and it just started up fine with everything still there, no issues.

Hope that helps.

“Asobo’d. What else?”

thanks for the tip!

I really hope they sort this out by game time.

It sure helps...unfortunately I am not currently home and just letting it update/install.  Hopefully that fixes it.  It should but definitely the long way to fix it.

It's funny MSFS refered to it as an update.  So I just said okay and it became apparent it was much larger.  I hope I don't loose my settings.  It has taken a while getting it right and some things I don't want to experience again.  Probably just wait out for FS2024 at this point if it's back to squire one!

The FS2024 Alpha test is very similar to one of the open betas for one of the updates way back.  Participating in it resulted in a fresh install for many.  I believe for that the easy fix was to opt out of the test!

No issue here with the Steam MSFS2020.

It happened to me as well - I had a full reinstall which means - I now need to reinstall all my addons etc

P.I.T.A. !

It probably was because I used the usual control panel to uninstall 2024 - but somehow -it got confused

as suggested. Strange though because I had 2024 Alpha installed on another drive

There's been a few reports of MSFS2020 getting wiped after users removed the Tech Alpha of MSFS24, something similar happens at the end of SU Betas to a select few for some reason.

that and a few more good reasons is why I use the free addonslinker. it has never happened to me ever since.

MS store trash as usual. No problems with the steam version.
