I was SO wrong to delete MSFS2020

I'm giving 2024 a full six months before I even consider buying in.

  • If disk space wasn't a problem, then I was wondering why the absolute desire to delete 2020 when one could have both installed 🙂 ... if disk space is a problem and you deleted it, then it must've been

  • I'm glad I deleted it for it'll give me some time to finally play some other games iike   Return to Monkey Island, UBoat or Derail valley while waiting! 😁

It happens. I was one that said I was going to wait and see how it goes before buying. I got excited before Work this morning and bought the Aviators edition. Now I'm staring at the queue screen. On the plus side, I guess..I haven't missed much by being at work all day. Nobody has been able to use it yet.

I'm going to be very surprised if it takes that long, truly.

I bragged yesterday about how I believed deleting MSFS 2020 was the right thing to do and just TRUST Microsoft to give us a great product that I could fly.

I apologize for being so confident.  I should have listened to so many of you who said...Wait, and see if everything works first.  I was wrong and I'm very sorry for not listening to all of you.

You also told me that I was going to LOVE (all caps) Microsoft Flight.

spilok, you are an eternal optimist. 🙂

I hadnt planned on using 2024 for a few weeks so I could get all my custom configs sorted out and setup - and see how things went on the initial rollout.   No idea it would be this bad.......so far 2020 seems fine - there had been some reports of connection issues but I havent seen that.

A few weeks sounds about the right timeframe to get the sim downloaded.

I did the same, after telling myself I wouldn't. Regretted very soon. Luckily I had images of my system and sim drives from a few days ago so I was able to restore 2020 and not have 2024. Was a bit of a pain because of all the things that had to be backed up before the restores, and I missed a few things now gone for good, but very glad to be back in 2020.

Not really. I do very specific "flying". Unless the physics model has been radically overhauled and that is confirmed by the real world pilots who use the sim, the eye candy aspect of the new sim (along with Career mode etc) is something I can do without.

Yes I am.  Sometimes it works out and sometimes...oh well...it doesn't

i pre-ordered, but figured it wouldn't be a good idea to download on release day (or even for a few days thereafter).  I plan to keep my eye on everything and wait until the initial release woes have dissipated - then I'll install it.

In the meantime, I greatly enjoyed my daily flight with FS2020 and all is going well.  I will also keep 2020 installed until I'm satisfied with 2024 and have my favorite add-ons and aircraft running well.

I downloaded it but have been stuck in queues whenever I try to get in. Except for one brief success about an hour ago. I got in, configured my pilot and started looking around an airport, but performance was abysmal. I'd estimate around 10fps. And it wouldn't let me enter the options screen when I hit escape - none of the buttons worked. So I force-quit and was sent right back to queue purgatory.

Oh well. It's what I expected because no popular game ever has a good first day anymore. I'm sure it'll be fine before long.

Can’t win them all lol. At least installing 2020 is possible…I think.

7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I’m fairly sure by the end of this year there will be enough compatibility to have 24 as the daily driver sim but I don’t see 20 being deleted for quite some time yet.

Need to let the dust settle. Too much time invested in 2020 to simply delete.

Intel i7 10700K | Asus Maximus XII Hero | Asus TUF RTX 3090 | 32GB HyperX Fury 3200 DDR4 | 1TB Samsung M.2 (W11) | 2TB Samsung M.2 (MSFS2020) | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm AIO | 43" Samsung Q90B | 27" Asus Monitor

Waiting for several addons to be compatible first before upgrading to MS 2024…

And reading the current install issues that also seems a good reason to wait.
