Problem list with FS2024 so far

Issues that are bugging me at the moment, which might have been mentioned;

- Cockpit mouse look has some bad mouse acceleration going on

- Cockpit freelook speed option affects mouse look and HAT axis view speed, so if you want your HAT view axis to be same speed as in 2020 or faster, it'll make the mouse look really fast. Combined with the acceleration, I can barely use my mouse in cockpit, as it's very sensitive and it quick snaps the view 180c or more due to the above-mentioned acceleration

So even the fundamentals of just looking around has become a headache.

I am trying also to find where is the speed for mouse zoom in/out  cockpit camera. Its ultra slow compare it with 2020. Its not a mouse issue as the external zoom view works perfect.

  • Well, this isn't going to take 5 minutes to fix-up is it?  I expect it could be well into next year.  I see people saying we need to be patient, and patience is a virtue.  Well, if wasting my life a

  • and yet some people couldnt wait to uninstall 2020.

  • 😄, posting goodbye threads and Youtube videos.  I saw this coming a mile away (a total cloud sim 🤨).  It might be March 2025 before I dive in (maybe next summer).

The 787 HUD refresh rate is way too low to be usable now.
The instrument refresh rate is set to high in settings, however the HUD remains jerky and at a lower refresh rate than the 2020 787.

MSFS2020 - Reset Target Offset, when bound to a button it resets the Drone Camera back to the Aircraft.
MSFS24 - It's been removed with no binding allowing you to do the above 🤦‍♂️

I spawn with C172, that comes with sim, at a parking ramp.  NO MOUSE CURSOR!  I have multiple monitors with 2024 dedicated to one of them; but I can't move the mouse off of the dedicated 2024 monitor either.  So spawning at a ramp is out of the question for me for now.  offensive initials not allowed over.

We could all pretend that this is in fact and alpha release and the we have paid our money to be alpha testers for Asobo. I'll bet Asobo is happy that they have 9 months to try to work things out before they get assaulted at Flight Sim Expo 2025.  I suspect that they won't have it worked out by then and they'll find an excuse not to attend.

I've done a fresh install of 2020 alongside 2024 and everything just works and looks great so its best of both worlds I'm sure 2024 will improve it has too really.

Made several attempts to start a flight this morning:

- Able to avoid the dreaded "Loading unusually long: log saved to Report-loading.toml" as long as I am not recovering from a CTD. Anytime the sim hangs and I have to restart or the sim crashes, I have to restart my computer to not get stuck at that point the next time I try to start the sim. So even basic crash recovery is not implemented. which is a a major red flag.

- When I did get the program started, get into flight setup and try to start a flight, the sim freezes 4 out of 5 times before it even loads the aircraft (this is on a default Cessna, nothing in my Community folder, just a plain vanilla install of the Premium Deluxe version).

- Tobii is borked anyway, and I won't fly without head tracking (ironic that Asobo made a big deal about Tobii integration in the pre-launch marketng hype, and yet here they screwed up the native implementation even though it works absolutely flawlessly with MSFS 2020).

I'm done for now and I will come back in a few weeks I guess. All of this indicates a software program that has barely reached alpha and hasn't gone through any sort of proper regression testing or debugging. I am not going to be an unpaid alpha tester for a AAA software title from a multi-billion-dollar tech conglomerate.

Back to MSFS 2020, which works perfectly.

I have noticed that other planes are not shown at all, if you dont know the trick..

So... Cessna 170B.. I select it... Then checking versions of it... THERE is some of my other aircrafts. When selecting one of them, the last one used (in this case the 170B) dissapears back to this "collection" of hidden airplanes again. So there are a bunch of planes categorized as different versions of planes (but with correct names....well, from time to time) in behind otherse. THATS a main bug. For me this planes are: 170B, M20R Mooney, The twin prop...Saneteca (or similar)...and one more. Cant remember.  Also, the icons and images for these planes are mixed up. (from time to time), showing the Mooney with the name (or picture) of the 170B etc.

Not sure if I will carry on with my 1 Euro subrscription, when it goes full prize after this month....

Things I also having a hard time with is: Runways in map mode (or free view) mode thats really pixelated. Also these blurry textures, but they might have to do with the dynamic setting being ON. I wll try to turn it off.

For you with low to mid systems (in my case 5600X, 3060Ti, 32Gb, 2560x1440) - which settings do you find OK and whats your fps?

Bonus question: My settings in flight conditions are not saved (or changed in between flights). Have you noticed this as well?

Also 2024 looks really washed out. Like there is a filter over the whole screen sometimes. The atr is not follwing lnav, Trees are a big issue. Night lights look way worse, Some places look like disco light with green and red. Like santiago chile. Payload efb bad, No turb in the clouds. Bloom over the top??? They should have called this 2025 or 2026. Only when is a lot better then 2020 they should have released a new version. But the only real improvement is the terrain up close for vfr simmers. The rest is the same or worse. Besides the server issues. The ai traffic is worse. Atc is worse, The only real nice thing is the inibuilds a330, but that could also be added to 2020.

I have to amend the above, it was so sluggish compared to 2020 I thought it must be a problem my end, and it was. I didn’t realise there was a separate instrument refresh rate selector in the VR menu, found it and it was set to low. All is super smooth now.

- I am suffering from the wandering camera view of doom. My cockpit camera doesn't stay still, it is shifting upwards, slowly but surely. And I cannot look around in the cockpit using the mouse?

- Controllers in the sim cannot be fully unassigned. I am often using my hat switch for trim, but it doesn't seem to be possible to have a blank joystick profile? The "general" (view?) controls cannot be unassigned.

I read somewhere that if you add a small dead zone to your controls, it will fix the problem. Apparently some controllers keep sending tiny outputs which make the display move slowly. A small dead zone takes care of it.

And try Meigs 2024. The runways are under water !!!d

Not possible to file an IFR flightplan to ATC via the efb.

Yet I have it and use it daily. I even believe I didn't change it from default, which is shift+space. I also bound it to one of my joystick buttons.
