Meanwhile I'm 11 hours into a 13 hour flight and it's still running fine.

I think you gave up way too soon.

Oh please.  You are clearly the exception not the rule right now.   There are not a lot of people reporting stellar user experiences with FS24 right now and to the contrary while people are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel and the promise of what '24 can be the overwhelming feedback across all forums, reviews, articles has been negative.   The Steam usage numbers have dropped by over 60% since release with thousands of negative reviews.  They can't all be making it up...

So please stop acting like all is perfect and it's everyone else with an issue. There are numerous teething issues that can't be denied some of which are show stoppers for certain users.

Well, yeah. They have time to complain. The rest of us are too busy flying in the sim to write much on the internet.

Most of us are more focused on what the sim's potential is rather than what it is right now. There's a lot broken in it, and I fully agree that MS/Asobo were absolute idiots to do this again instead of being patient and making sure the sim worked at least relatively well before releasing it. No one would have cared if it'd ended up being named MS2025.

However, history tells us they will work on it and that vast improvements are in the future. The angry kids on Steam throwing temper tantrums because they didn't get what they want RIGHT NOW are not going to change that, so the rest of us don't really care what they have to say.

Really?  So just dismiss all the valid complaints and act like the launch never happened and it's "their" fault they had all that time to complain to begin with...

They only had the time to write thousands of negative reviews BECAUSE of how badly the launch went and some of the ongoing issues.  But sure they are just throwing tantrums and no one cares anyway because the sim is so magically marvelous.

I'm sure that's what the folks at MS are telling their bosses as well.

Everyone who wanted a refund was just a whiner, and it's their fault they weren't more patient with our botched release.  Because I'm pretty sure the conversations aren't transpiring in that nature dealing with all of the refunds and lost revenue.

I am all for the optimism and seeing it for what it "will be" but to dismiss them as angry kids throwing a tantrum is like keeping your head in the sand to deny it's genuinely been a nightmare release.

I am also all for it living up to it's promise someday but I also have something that lives up to it's promise today even if it took it 4 years to get to this point... I'm living for today not tomorrow, tomorrow is never promised.

So it appears for some, that Asobo's willingness to release something that wasn't really ready, worked out. Some think it is great, many say you have to be patient, and meanwhile they made a ton of money. Go figure....😉

Well, If Asobo had sold it as Early Access with a limited feature set (maybe at a reduce price), or delayed the launch - nobody had a reason to complain. But this did not happen. Just because such launches seem to be "the new normal" does not make i right. Asobo is free (obligated i would say) to fix its product, meanwhile they have to live with the consequences. Vocal customer dissatisfaction is just as valid (and a logical consequence) as Asobo thought their sim was in a state to be released. This whole thing was a simple business transaction - and one side did not deliver.

Maybe the sim is now more usable than previously - but still, things are not working as advertised.

How about the people that paid $260 for 2024. I bet they have some buyers remorse.

The last 7 posts have not been about the topic raised. If there's even the most remotest chance of Avsim reconsidering (though I'll eat my virtual hat if that happens😉), diluting the original motive of the thread isn't likely to help the cause. I know it's common for threads to wander off-topic, but in this case...

I was gonna say the same thing but meh. I've even thought about starting my own forum up for simmers from all sims who just want to talk /share /ask advice about actual flight simming, forget all this different sim wna. I've had enough of missing questions about how to do your first ils approach or planning your own routes lol.

So adding another forum DOES cost money for AVSIM?

If so, then drop The Sweet FX Support Forum for MSFS2024. The last 2 postings there are from 6 years ago.

I don't actually disagree with anything you said. But I'm also in hobby-preservation mode. If the review bombers get what they want, which is apparently that Jorg gets fired, Asobo goes out of business and Microsoft has a horrible profit picture this year, then flight simulation is going to go back to the way it was a decade after the last FSX update when Saitek was about the best you could do for controllers and PMDG's 3 planes plus the Maddog were all you could get for really good payware.

We're going to go back to those days eventually because what's popular today inevitably becomes passe tomorrow, but I'm not eager to accelerate that process. I want 2024 to succeed. Massively. That's not going to happen if everyone goes crazy because it wasn't perfect on day one.

I am confident that our user base possesses the requisite intelligence to be able to sort thru MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 posts during the brief overlap period where both sims still enjoy widespread interest.

I'm beginning to doubt that statement.  🤷
