No 2020 / 2024 separate forums...

Featured Replies

Well in the wake of this disaster, it would seem that 2 forums 2020 and 2024 would have helped out. I did not understand that decision. Sorry not piling on but dang what a bad decision. IMO

The concept of using tags to differentiate posts between 2020 & 2024 is admirable.

However, a quick scan of recent posts show that this isnt working. SO many 2020 only or 2024 only posts are NOT being tagged, meaning its a real drag having to wade through posts that may not be relevant.

Unless there is additional cost for every new forum added to the site, I dont understand why there is such steadfast refusal to create a 2024 forum.

The future of AVSIM depends on regular viewers & donations. If reading content is made that much more difficult, because of a decision that is NOT cost related, then perhaps the staff may have lost sight of why AVSIM is here - for the readers.

I will pledge to make a donation to AVSIM - IF separate 2020/2024 forum is reconsidered and implemented.

The official MSFS forum has separate tag options.  Unfortunately, it hasn't stopped users from posting in the wrong forum or using both MSFS2020 & MSFS2024 tags.

Having said that I would prefer separate forums since I'm still using MSFS2020.

It will take more that one member doing that! 💰

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Now my favorite website is completely irrelevant. Only about half the posts are using the tags and, to my knowledge, you can’t filter them out anyway.

I just want to be able to see posts relevant to the sim I fly. Not how to set up controllers, how to skip the walk around, how to set the weather, how to get rid of your co-pilot… NONE of that relevant to the sim I fly.

(One more) PLEASE?

So adding another forum DOES cost money for AVSIM?

If so, I am sure there are plenty of MSFS 2020/2024 readers here that would be willing to help raise funds to cover a split of the forum which would help reading/navigating our favorite flight sim site!

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

And me. The forums are fast becoming messy and confusing and with the launch of MSFS2024 this is drowning out relevant posts for MSFS2020 which is likely to be the go to simulator for quite some time at this rate given its maturity.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all sims are created equal...ok ok, some more equal than others perhaps. But still. It seems there'd be quite a bit of overlap, people switching back and forth between 20 and 24, using both. A single post can discuss two, or in the future more versions. Not so different from P3D or X-Plane. I'm in favor of one forum for this category and just labeling it MSFS2020-... since before you know it, 2028 will be around.

I would really like to know Why it would cost money to have a new separate forum? I don't understand how 🤔 Having run forums in the past (granted many many years ago) I'm struggling to think of a reason.

Seeing as there's probably 1 or more redundant forums in AVSim couldn't you just delete/archive one of those if adding a new one costs more?
