Only those that have the patience of a child.

So you buy a new car and patiently wait they finish building the thing before you can actually use it, is that the way people are supposed to think nowadays?

Pay for something that doesn't work the way it's intended to and, while not having the patience of a child, wait for the "it might work someday" day?

NEVER EVER buy something expecting it to do something. Buy it for what it is today. This should be a finished, usable product and this just isn't that, not even near, no wonder they hid it so well from streamers etc.

I understand the original decision, but things have really changed.

That's why I raised the issue again. My thread was very quickly locked down by the mods without any reasonable explanation.

Why do people keep comparing software to cars? The comparison just doesn’t work…

It's the "idea", not the object. It's the idea people nowadays take everything manufacturers/developers/whatever give us and don't even stop one second to think about what is actually happening.

Today people buy marketing products, campaign products and forgot what actually is to buy something they need or in the case of MSFS in particular, something that is actually a "done" product, ready for the public. Nobody would buy a car without wheels because it's not "ready", yet they accept software that isn't ready and expect it to be "someday".

But anyway, i have complained enough, starting to sound like a broken record. I honestly hope it becomes something useful, but this whole "cloud and out of our control" thing really puts me off. It means we have to accept whatever they do with the software even if we paid for it - Cannot even configure aircraft or remove unwanted models/liveries. It's "as we want it whether you like it or not". Add this to the above and MSFS2024 just sounds "meh".

Why cant they just put 2020 content in a subforum and call it Relic, or Legacy:p, and just rename the main forum to MSFS 2024…?…. Would be neat:)

Why not put 2024 in a subforum and call it "not even alpha"? Or "half baked"?

There is absolutely no cost associated with an additional forum, its 1 extra entry in a database…..

I was trying to think of a rational/logical reason why a separate forum was NOT seriously considered, and thought that perhaps there was a financial reason behind it.

And then this was posted in reply:

It will take more that one member doing that! 💰

Then I asked if it can be confirmed that there was a financial cost involved. So far, no response back what so ever.

There are enough differences between 2020 & 2024 right now, and that gap is only going to increase over the next 4 years, whilst both products run in parallel. The longer the 2 products are crammed into one forum, the more difficult it will become to try to split apart some time in the future when its obvious the gap between the 2 products is huge.

If creating another forum is such a HUGE HASSLE/COST, then why has VR, a subsection of MSFS202 been split out, and not forced to use TAGS instead to indicate the topic is about the VR option in 2020?

Or is it that there was enough interest in VR within the board that triggered a separate forum, but no such interest from the same board in 2024?

LOL, either way, as long as it is separate.

Many of the issues will all be remedied in due time. Some already have, for example steaming has no longer been a problem for me.

If you think MSFS2020 is going to remain popular that's delusional.

MSFS2024 is the future like it or not that is where MSFS will be putting it's emphasis.

I expect topics about 2020 will fade away over time.

WOW! That really throws it out there. You know MS2020 was a major enhancement to the flight sim genre. MS2024, not so much although there are certainly welcome additions such Lido charts and if you are into it, challenges etc, although as many have said, that could have been done in MS2020. The really big 'enhancement' and technology 'improvement' that MS2024 brings is streaming and an improved visual detail picture.  However, as a result of that decision by MS,  it will exclude quite a few potential 2024 buyers simply because they don't have the internet capacity to stream MS2024.  So that means some of us will be remaining with MS2020 for the foreseeable future so,  to say "If you think MSFS2020 is going to remain popular that's delusional", and "I expect topics about 2020 will fade away over time". is pretty arrogant to say the least and dismisses a cadre of simmers who would perhaps love to fly MS2024 but technically won't be able to. In the words of Greta Thunburg, "How dare you!"

But I agee, MS2024 will be the major hunting ground in this currently mixed sim forum and no it won't get any better just because they get over the initial downloading issues. There are many more MS2024 issues (that have no bearing on MS2020) that need to be discussed and that's why it needs to be separated out from MS2020. In the meantime I have all but given up posting anything about MS2020 because I can see posts by others being swamped and pushed onto page 2,3 or 4 with hours. Its a defacto MS2024 forum already.

Anyway, the last time I trampled into a 'seperate forum' discussion it got locked so, sorry guys if I upset the mods once again. A simulator technology (streaming) that 'locks' low streaming capacity users out of MS2024 and that the developer openly suggests you stick with MS2020 is a low point in this franchise in my view.  Mixing this forum with both sims and locking threads about it is another one (again IMHO).

Something has caused all this to go south for me and few others affected by this, but before you jump down my throat, this is our reality, not yours. So I vote YES Virginia!

Cheers

Terry

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Bob & Mods, you know it's ok to reverse decisions right? You don't have to stick to your guns right? So if we don't get a viable reason as to why we can't have separate forums (the cost question still not answered) then just do it please for the sake of your community here.

The reasons have been explained in the posts above, common sense needs to prevail, thanks.

Really unsure what your point is here as this is exactly what happens when you order a new car.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been enjoying watching the streamers doing a Comical Ali - holding themselves back from criticising FS2024 so that they keep their special access status!
