MSFS 2020 Connection lost and CTD

So much for that idea.

Now, even with Online active I was thrown to the desktop when I clicked Fly - that's it for me

3 CTDs on MS20 tonight. Guessing there are still issues with server loads.

It was a fair cop. Apologies.

Three CTD's on MSFS20 today, and I don't even remember the last time I had problems with that. I'm actually having better luck staying connected with MSFS24 now. Which might just be their master plan after all . . . .

My 2020 just gets stuck on "Checking for updates", doesn't go any further.  Has been working fine for years until the last week or so.

...finally got past that and now just got one of the first ever CTD's I can recall about 15 minutes into a flight. Clearly something (not good) going on with 2020 now.

I've noticed longer loading times too after the last update. The sim spends about a minute checking for updates. ANNOYING!

I've also had a couple of CTDs. I'm not sure if it's update related. I'm kind of mad at myself for continuing to support such an unreliable sim and developer. But what else have we got? Those other sims seem dated. I can never go back there again.

I have not had any CTDs or bandwidth issues in MSFS 2020 since MSFS 2024 was released, and performance has been excellent. Loading times are always somewhat extended due to having nearly a hundred airport addons in the Community folder. Update checking times at the start vary to some degree, but they are never excessive. The only issue I have noted recently is a mesh problem with ORBx ESMS Malmo, but I would be stretching credulity to the limit if I blamed MSFS 2024 for that!

Depends on what you consider the top priority for your chosen sim. Stability or better scenery. If you're flying IFR most of the time and it's cloudy below there's not much to look at.

Has anyone reported this on the official forums?  Sounds like the exact same behavior as the other night that they resolved in a few hours...

And don't worry the FS24 patch yesterday seemed to cause a bunch of CTD's for people using career mode as well so it seems like they are trying their best to torpedo both sims right now...

But 5 9's....

Agreed, MSFS 2020 is as far back as I will go.  There is no need to mention or debate the other sims anymore, they are so dated at this point and yes, the difference in IFR and high level flights is absolutely night and day.  Not to mention, MSFS 2020 has been the most stable sim I have ever used.  Aside from the PMDG left yoke issues and the CTD's that started on Sunday I have not had a single CTD in MSFS in the 3 years I have been using it.

Rock solid until now, to start debating it again is nonsense, we ended those debates years ago...

Ray, I don't fly IFR or in the soup all the time. Descending through clouds and seeing the beautiful ground textures or just looking out the windows is so much more gratifying than it was when I used the other two sims. Not to mention that this sim is smooth like butter. IMHO, it blows away the competition. It's just my oppinion, but it's backed up by years of experince.

As for CTDs, I discovered that some add-ons cause CTDs. Once I discover the culprit, I remove it and that stops CTDs. MSFS 2020 is mostly stable. But, when CTDs happen, they can be annoying.

@CFIJose, you’re on 2020 which after four years of bug fixing and enhancements is now pretty stable. It appears to be having more problems recently following the release of 2024. Whether they’re related or just coincidental only Microsoft / Asobo know.

I know the scenery is better than P3D but there are so many other things that are important for me that would be either unavailable or compromised switching to a streaming sim irrespective of who provided it. Plus the cost of addons.

I really don’t look out of the window much in my flights. I’m more occupied with checking my routing and the aircraft systems. Oh, and monitoring this place when in cruise. 😉

We all have things that matter most to us. Yours and mine are different, that’s all.

No problems on my MSFS2020 startups.

Same as always.

2 minutes and 45 seconds to the selection screen.

Another 30 seconds to the runway.

Sup Folks.  I'm not going to be much help.  But have you tried signing out of XBOX, Microsoft APP store, & Steam?  Try signing out of all three and then sign back into APP store, XBOX, then Steam.  Do that before running the sim.

Not sure if that will do anything but that helped me last week when we ran into the loading issue.
