November 30, 20241 yr I have just checked on my PC, and I am also seeing the red "disconnected" message on the CHECKING FOR UPDATES screen, and it indicates that there are 291GB to install. I exited the game at that point, and will not touch it again until tomorrow morning. For the record, I completed several flights during the day without any problems whatsoever. November 30, 20241 yr Taking from 2020 to help out 2024??? I'd expect this type of service from someone running the show from their garage or basement. Still think online streaming is the way to go? I can tell you when it works it is much much better then MSFS 2020 and a big big improvement Maybe you are only person on the planet that is happy with MSFS 2024, From a lot other people I know - none of them are satisfied/happy with MSFS 2024 in current state. The sim has potential but will require further fixes and updates.

November 30, 20241 yr Thank you to @Ray Proudfoot and @charliearon For those concerned it DOES look like the issue has been resolved. Users are reporting logging in normally on the forums and I just got past the installation manager screen without issue and looks like normal loading. Fingers crossed. Just loaded all the way in and Marketplace is available again so online services must be up. Edited November 30, 20241 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
November 30, 20241 yr I am in Italy and this problem started to appear yesterday morning with constant CTDs while loading the airport or shortly after the start of any flight. Not finding any evidence of these problems online, I thought it was my problem and after many checks I decided to reinstall everything, but the CTDs continued to be there. Only a few hours ago, despite the loading much slower than usual because there is a lot of time left on CHECKING FOR UPDATES, I managed to do two flights (LIRF - LSZH and KDTW-KJFK) without having problems.
November 30, 20241 yr After an irritating MSFS24 flight where the FPS dropped and it became unusable on final after a 7 hour flight, I wanted to go back to FS20 for a dependable flight and run into this issue…ugh so frustrating. Glad to hear it seems to be resolved though, going to cross my fingers and give it a try. November 30, 20241 yr Yes it seems to be resolved. No error messages/install weird stuff and connection issues on load and my flight has not crashed yet after ten minutes. Looking good. Russell Gough SE London

It says it needs to do a 0GB update, then says "connection lost", then crashes to desktop after saying connection has been established again. Is anyone else having this problem? Just tried my FS2020 startup. I got a Standard Mandatory Update of 20.6 MB's. It completed update and stayed on update screen. I closed and restarted again. It started up and worked as normal. Maybe try turning off Windows defender and try again. November 30, 20241 yr I've been experiencing CTDs when clicking FLY on every flight in 2020 for the last few days. This started for me shortly after the 2024 release. Usually, the flight started on the second try and ran normally - frustrating, but if I made it to the the tarmac all worked well. Starting this morning, the CTDs were non-stop (on every FLY initiation) and I was unable to start a flight. I tried a number of adjustments but nothing worked - I think I had about 10 crashes. After a couple of hours of this I recalled that on one start a short update had been run. On all large updates in the past I have deleted and reset the Rolling Cache to forestall issues, but with this update I had not done that, as it appeared to have been a minor tweak of some sort. With that in mind, I restarted 2020, deleted and reset the Rolling Cache, exited and erased the DirectX Shader Cache, rebooted my system, then restarted 2020. I then had a nice flight and no more issues. I will try another flight in about an hour and see if that was a fluke or those steps actually resolved the situation. Randall Rocke
November 30, 20241 yr I just tried starting MSFS2020 (2115z) and it worked ....but..........in my first attempt, it applied a small update then it remained on the installation screen for 15+ minutes. I then killed the task and restarted MSFS2020, and then it started normally. zachlog
